How Many Teams Will the MVC Get In the NCAA Tournament?

I'd love to believe the Committee will do their job and place 6 strong teams from a great conference in the NCAA's, but it's going to be 5 and it looks like the one team that didn't get to 20 wins could be in jeopardy.

If there was a perfect scenario in STL to get 6 we had it. IF Gonzaga, GW, Memphis, and Bucknell win their tournaments, and there are no surprises a la Iowa in 2001, 6 makes sense!!

And realistically if the committee factors in injuries like they are supposed to, Creighton has a shot as Dotzler will be ready to play again. Unbelievable. Now the conference really needs to make some noise in the dance. Especially a team like UNI, MSU, or BU as they will be the teams the "experts" will be saying don't belong. WSU and SIU will be cut slack for winning the conference titles. The other three need some wins if we want continued recognition for the Valley!

I disagree on Creighton, but agree on MVC teams having to win games. If we're going to be given this respect, we have to prove the committee right, or don't be surprised when we only get 2 teams next year, no matter how good we look.

Should be 5 but will be 4. CU, BU, and MSU out.

CU vs the Huskers at the Qwest, in the NIT. 5 at best, 4 hopefully, 3 would be a shame. I think our Panthers are the third team in from the Valley. But that is what the Shockers thought last year...............

I think 5 will get invited, 3 will win first round games, and only 1 will make it to the Sweet 16.
PatherNation will be a hotbed of activity thanks to the Panthers' two wins, but the national media will spend countless hours unfairly lambasting the Valley for underperforming, mostly due to the fact that no other mildly compelling NCAA stories can be concocted. Mr. Elgin will happily cash a few checks and send the rest to all the Valley schools and we'll go about our merry way ramping up the non-conf schedule for next year, never once looking back at our scheming RPI trickery of '05-'06.
