I am organizing a reunion of my dorm house (Sherman/Rider) for this years homecoming game. I am looking for advice on hotels in the area. I would like to be able to book a block of about 15 rooms. Having been gone from the CF area for 25 years now and not staying overnight when I return I am not too familiar with the hotel scene. The closer to campus the better I would say, also what is nice and reasonably priced?
In addition I am trying to decide where to hold the reunion. My thinking is we will have a big tailgate before the game since it is a 4:00 game. Does anyone know about renting tents in the dome lot? What that costs and how one goes about it? There is also the all alumni tailgate, we may just take over a few tables at that. After the game we will probably continue the celebration at whatever hotel we are at or hit the hill.
Just looking for any advice in general I guess on how to put this together.

Gonzo,
That's my old house... when were you there? I was there for the 98-99 school year.

Only 20 years before you, graduated in 1979.

Well... I'm sure it didn't change much in that 20 year time frame! I'd love to be able to thow something like this together for my buddies too.

Gonzo:
Here are a few hotels that I think are real nice and reasonably priced and their numbers that are in the CF area, close to UNI:
Country Inn & Suites (Corner of University & Main, fairly new) - 268-1800 countryinns.com
AmericInn & Suites (South of Campus, corner of Viking Rd. & Hwy 58, brand new) - 277-6166
Holiday Inn on University - 277-2230
If you are looking for cheap, then I'd suggest these:
Days Inn - University - 266-1222
University Inn - University Ave. 1-800-962-7784 - skyport.com/uni-inn/
hope this helps.

I think some of those places have discounts for Alumni and/or Athletic Club memberships.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately for my plans I checked with most if not all of those places today and they are all fully booked. Looks like there is going to be a big crowd for Homecoming! The only place I found with vacancies was the Heartland Inn which had 4 rooms available. One place told me to check a hotel in Waverly so that may be where I have to go.

The "Red House" probably still has a few more days left in it. Perfect location and plenty of rooms! What better way to spend Homecoming than in the future location of the McLeod Center!
Just kidding :D

As I understand it that house became chemical storage for the university. I hear they had a huge mess in trying to figure out what to do with all of the junk they had stored there.
