  • Twin Cities GAMEWATCH - vs YSU

    Hey Everyone,

Thanks again for all of those in attendance this past weekend. Just a reminder that we'll be gathering again for the YSU game at 3 p.m. this Saturday.

We're looking to add "UNI Trivia" to the mix for door prizes to spice it up a bit so bring your thinking caps along with your purple and gold!!

    See you Saturday!

    Go Panthers!

Bad news on this gamewatch unless someone can figure out a way to get the game today. We thought it was on DirecTV but it turns out its on "Fox College Sports" which DTV doesn't have. I need options fast so if anyone has any ideas, that would be great. I'm thinking of trying to hook up my laptop and watch through CSTV "All Access" at the bar but I dont know if that will work???

MadCat, the game is on Fox College Sports Atlantic at 3:00. I don't live in Minneapolis, but I swear I've seen the Fox Sports Channels carried in numerous sports related bars around here. You may have to change venues, but you should be able to find it somewhere.

I was under the impression from earlier posts that today's game was being carried via tape delay only. I was pleasantly suprised to pick up my paper this morning and be proven wrong.

I don't think that is included on the DirecTV package that I have and I upgraded to the sorts package last week. I know it's on at 3 am but I don't think it's on live.

Yeah, we'll probably change venues for a few of us. Unfortunately, we're expecting a similar crowd compared to the 65 we had show up last week. The bar had given us a private bar area with our own bartender. And no bar close by has the right stuff. This is a bummer.

We are thinking of bringing our two laptops with us. So at least we can see what's going on. Though I think it might be pretty tough for us all to crowd around a 6-inch screen!

The only thing I can think of is the local cable provider. Here the dominant, but not only, cable provider is Comcast. That may explain why several bars here receive the Fox Sports channels. Unless I'm jinxing myself, I should be able to watch the Panthers live today. Good luck with your gamewatch, I hope you can rig up a solution.

Say hello to the Twin Cities area alumni from Chicago. Good chance that some of us would know some of you. Also let everyone know that the Bears will win the NFC Central, and that Tori Hunter stands a good chance of playing for either the Cubs or White Sox next year, but not the Twins.

              GO PANTHERS!!!

Well, I just went over there and talked with the owner. Unfortunately, they dont have internet so we can't even watch on the laptops. He is being extremely apologetic as he thought he was carrying the game. He's agreed to have someone near the front at around gametime to let all UNI fans know what's going on. (For those that don't know, this is a GIGANTIC bar that is used to hosting huge events.)

Unfortunately, I was asked to take over the event coordination just this week, otherwise I would have looked into this more closely. I'm just stunned that its not on DTV (afterall, I was just preaching the benefits of the service earlier this week!). I just feel bad that we've now likely stunted any momentum we had going with the TCs alumni from last week's huge turnout.

Yeah ... when I looked on DirecTV's site they carry every FSN channel I've ever heard of but none of the "FCS" (Fox College Sports) channels ... On a brighter note ... when looking at my guide channel (Knology cable in Dunedin, FL) it looks like the Mark Farley Show is being shown directly before the game (3PM Eastern time)! I can't wait! Good luck finding it guys!

Yeah, Comcast up here has it with the expanded "sports package". Unfortunately, not a lot of bars have Comcast. DTV has the market pretty much cornered (for good reason, 99% of the time, I'd say).

I hear ya. When UNI played SIU, I was calling all the Wrigleyville area bars asking if they had rooftop satellite dishes (some still do, which you can see from the El if you take it to Wrigley from the South). Unfortunately, they told me the dishes are still there, but were disconnected long ago in favor of Direct TV.

What about Joe Sensers? I would think if any bar in the TCs had the game, it would be there. Is that too far from where you're meeting?
