  • Iowa doesn't look very good.

I realize they're playing the top team in the country, but, man, they're getting owned. I don't understand their #13 ranking.

They're finally playing someone that can expose all of their weak spots...

But when Tate was making decent decisions they were moving the ball. OSU's defense isn't as good as they looked either.

I heard one of the commentators for the game while I was wrapping up after the UNI/ISU game and he said that Iowa self-destructed in this game, and I couldn't agree more.

Ohio State is a pretty not-so-bad team.

OSU is really really good, and Iowa dropped passes and missed tackles in key situations. Tough game for them.

Iowa had to play perfectly, and didn't. Really, Iowa's defense was simply over matched, but was almost good enough. Offensively, Iowa was trying to force things, and you can't make a mistake against that team.

Iowa probably is about the 13th or 14th best team in the country, but this year, the 3rd best team is a MILE away from #1. That is, by far, the best team in the country and it's not close. Iowa will lose at Michigan, win out, and be playing on Jan 1 again.

I don't know how you could understand their #13 ranking they haven't beaten a good team yet. Syracuse, I don't care if precious over-rated Tate was out they are terrible and it took 2OT's. Illinois is terrible and other than that 4-min stretch Iowa was anything but dominating. Coming back to beat Iowa at home has been their best victory and that is not diserving of a #13 ranking.
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

                    Iowa looked okay

Iowa did okay today, they def didn't play their best. Its hard when you turn the ball over 3 times and they don't turn it over at all. OSU is the real deal and will be playing for the NC in january. I would just like to say that Iowa will end up 11-1 or 10-2 and be playing in a big bowl game. I am still a little hungover and sad from the UNI game, but it was fun being in ames tailgating with everyone!

Good stuff News. I agree 100%! Unfortunately for me, Iowa is miles ahead of the rest of the teams on its schedule not named Michigan. I just wish more Hawk fans were as realistic and down to earth as you. Then I would probably be able to tolerate them better.

Iowa isn't a Top 10 team. What in Iowa's first 4 games led anyone to believe that they could compete with Ohio State? They struggled to consistently move the ball vs. Montana, eeked out a 2OT thriller vs. a poor Syracuse team, beat ISU at home after being behind 21-10 at the half and then played pretty well for 5:55 seconds in the 2nd quarter vs. Illinois.

They aren't as good as Hawkeye fans WANT them to be. They will beat (should) everyone else on their schedule except Michigan. So...10-2 is a great season...but I think the Big Ten is down a little save for Ohio State and the Wolverines.

News hit it on the head, Iowa had to play perfectly to win, and OSU could afford to make mistakes.

What makes OSU's D so tough, IMO, is Pickett, the D-Tackle. Iowa's O-Line was really trying to account for him, so it frees up Goshen (the D-End who's ridiculously quick) and Laurienitis, the soph LB. The Goshen kid looked like a track star compared to Iowa's O-Line at times. He reminded me somewhat of the guy from Appy St. last year who had all those sacks (name escapes me, but I know he graduated).

I think a healthy Louisville is the only team really close OSU this year.....unfortunately we'll never know.....

But moving on we will see who the best team in the land is in a few weeks when OSU plays Michigan. I garuntee Game Day will be at that game.
