Re: Injury bug hits WBB yet again

FWIW, this time last year UNI was without both JK and HS for the season and was playing without Brittni Donaldson and Stephanie Davison. That team rallied to an MVC semifinal berth and WNIT home game.
Right after Herzberg's injury at SDSU, UNI fought back to force OT and was one play away from winning in that first OT. The Panthers followed with a great start vs. Akron and showed it could battle late after losing a 25-point lead to win that game. Plus, Alyssa Johnson is back and adding significant depth and experience. These last two non-conference games will be good to watch to see how much more UNI can build on before MVC play...

Great news that Johnson is able to play again! Hopefully Schonhardt can increase her minutes also. In the games I've seen she seemed to have good energy and mobility, but her shooting touch had not yet come around. I thought Keitel looked much better and more like her old self against ISU than Iowa.

Re: Injury bug hits WBB yet again
UNI WBB always seems to have at least a couple major injuries each season.
Is this something fairly typical across WBB, or is it UNI-specific?
And if it is the latter, it makes me wonder why. Style of play? Strength and conditioning problem? Bad luck? Voodoo curse?

Re: Injury bug hits WBB yet again
Women are a lot more prone to ACL and knee injuries in general due to the angle of the femur coming out of the hip joint. Unlike men, the hip joint is not directly above the knee joint as the hip is wider than the knee. This puts more stress on the knee and almost no margin for error when it comes to landing wrong after jumping.#MACtion
