Time to move on. Amazingly, we are 0-2 in the league right now, and we simply have to get back on the winning track. Frankly, this is a game we should win handily at home, even as banged up as we are.

I hope to see our team really improve upon offensive execution this week, as its been really bad the last few weeks.

The good news is that the schedule, seemingly, lets up quite the bit the rest of the way. SDSU and MSU on the road should be really tough games, but games against USD, Ill St, WIU, and YSU are all games we should win.

I think there are two potential losses left: YSU and SDSU. Anything else would be pretty surprising.

      Sawyer:
"We're on track to be going back to the team we were last year," said the Panther quarterback. "We could end up losing the rest of our games. We don't want that. We've worked hard all season not to do that again. We've worked hard to make it to the playoffs and make a run.

"Everybody's gotta wake up and stop blaming other people about stuff. Take credit for the losses, for their mistakes, man up and play football."
      Gotta love our QB...

YSU will be a much more challenging opponent than MSU.
but frankly, if UNI plays the way they did yesterday, they have the potential to lose any of the remaining games. All depends on which team shows up (and the injury situation)

The Coyotes are 2-1 in conference so far this year, with wins over MSU and Indiana State, and a loss at WIU. And the last two times we've played them, UNI won each by less than a touchdown (19-14 and 24-21), though both of those were in Vermillion.

@Sullyside73: UNI HC Mark Farley: WR Phil Wright out for year. Foot injury suffered vs McNeese St.

We are snake-bitten with injuries this year...

USD is #1 in the nation (for FCS, and in all of D-I for that matter) in passing defense (least passing yards allowed), allowing just 105 yards per game through the air.

Besides returns I don't think Carnes played. I don't recall any "wildcat" with him in there

                            Re: South Dakota

The way things are trending for both teams, us Coyotes are quite optimistic going into this game. Our defense has been absolutely stellar, but the team has its wins in spite of every other part of the team. Special teams miscues and turnovers have made would be comfortable wins into nail biters, but thankfully we've pulled out a few wins so far.

Last week the top rated passing team in the MVFC in Indiana State came to the Dome, and we gave up 82 through the air. Two interceptions thrown in the end zone and a muffed punt almost put us under though despite us doubling their offense. Same story as the week before, but we've improved over last year and took both games 17-14 instead of dropping them.

Offense has been improving, and we are now 2-0 under new QB Kevin Earl. We dropped two games we might have won @NAU and @WIU if we had switched QBs sooner, but better late than never. A pair of powerful freshmen running backs is what we have on the ground, and the passing game has been revamped with the true pocket passer and former "dual threat" QB Josh Vander Maten lining up at receiver.

We would love to have this win, it's been 3 years since we won on the road. If USD eliminates turnovers and can get around 300 yards we should win, might be too much to ask for though. Our defense is far too good for us to be blown out, and I expect a relatively close game even if our offense comes out flat.

Hopin we get a better outcome than our last trip to Cedar Falls...
