That explanation might work in year two or three, but year seven with one winning season so far & a 38% winning percentage, not so much.

Kansas and Texas Tech are average. I can't see more than 2 Big 12 wins. Three conference wins could give him one more year.

And that's a tougher slate of games than your Big XII season, right?

What you just mentioned has nothing to do with ISU being a consistent bowler. The BCS doesn't accept moral wins to get to that magic number of 6. And let's say that ISU starts exiting the non-conference with a winning record in the future, they still have to win about 4+ Big XII games. What possible evidence do you have that Paul Rhoades is a good enough coach to pull this off?

The Cyclones can pat themselves on the back for being competitive through the first 3 games but it doesn't change the fact that they are a long shot to make a bowl game

          Kansas is horrible.
          Texas and KSU are average.
Tech, WVU and OSU are slightly above them.
TCU, Baylor and OU are great.
ISU will win 1-2 more games. 3 if they get REALLY lucky.
They will not win 5 more to go bowling. Zero chance.

Yeah, I know. 3 wins would be nice. A fourth probably secures his job.

I always see Iowa State fans talking about how they'll beat K-State and how the talent is really comparable. The difference is it comes down to CPR vs a guy that might be the best coach in college football history.

Bill Snyder is the difference and that's why Iowa State has almost no shot in that game.

They'll beat Kansas tomorrow because Kansas is historically bad, but there isn't another win on that schedule unless somebody implodes.

It has more to do with how well ISU usually plays KSU.
6 of the last 7 losses vs KSU have came down to the last possession, with ISU pretty much shooting themselves in the foot most of those times.
That's why ISU fans always feel they have a shot vs KSU ragardless of how bad or good either team may be. (Similar to the ISU/Iowa game)

I think you just proved his point. ISU/KSU has been close in 6 of the last 7 games and yet they are 0-7. Snyder knows how to win close games and the game is in Manhattan where ISU has only won a single time in the last 25 years.

The majority of those losses were more from ISU choking (missing a PAT) than it is Snyder's coaching.

Snyder is a great coach, 10x better than Rhoads, but after Kansas and Texas the KSU game is probably ISU's next best chance at a win.

How bad is Kansas? Its biblically bad. In reality, its a bad FCS team - literally only had 64 players on scholarship this summer

Kansas is so bad, ISU is -17... I'm not sure the last time ISU was favored by that much.

If ISU finds a way to lose this game, does Rhodes get fired during the post game radio/tv interview?

He should be fired on his way off the field.

Nah, Jamie will still need a buddy to drink with on Saturday night.

It's ISU football season. The fact that CPR is his drinking buddy and not Jim, Jack and Johnnie tells me Jamie hasn't figured out Saturdays
