      Boeve Update 4/28/05

Boeve has not played for Lynchburg the last four or five games. He had been struggling with K's, so I thought he may have been benched for a couple of games. When it went on 5, I thought something must be up, so I e-mailed the Lynchburg newspaper's sports editor. He said that Adam got hit by a pitch on the wrist last weekend and is day to day. He doesn't know how serious it is as the team is on a road trip and they don't send a reporter with the team.

        Tom Petrie

Has a try-out with the Washington Redskins. So you can add him to the list if you would like.

Don't know if this is a "bunny trail" off the main topic, but it would be interesting to see a list of former Cat players in any sport that are coaching throughout the nation.

decent feature.....former panther football players might have a place to crash at if they take in a game on the northside!

Chad has been listed at #1 on the depth chart all season so far. All games but the last one he has played center and Saturday he played guard. Their offense is #1 in the world league, which means the offensive line is playing strong:

“As a whole I think we are all clicking on offense,” running back Jarrett Payton said. “Everything is clicking. The offensive line is moving people and making holes and we are just in a rhythm. This is how we should be playing all the time.”

                Boeve Update

Adam Boeve was named to the Carolina League mid-season All-Star team. Since coming back from a wrist injury, he has been doing very well. This week (6-6 to 6-11) he is 8/16 with 4 runs, 3 rbi. He is 5th in the Carolina League in batting avg @ .321 and has started to show some power, too, with 9 dingers. (3 came in one game, which has previously been mentioned in this thread). Judging by Pirates message boards, he is catching the attn of the Pirates brass and appears primed for a promotion to AA, Altoona. He needs a promotion this year as everyone seems to think he is overage for the level he is at. The downside of a promotion is that this is a draft class of the Pirates that have tended to be promoted in whole. They have been very successful, as they won a championship in 03 at Williamsport, 04 at Hickory, and now are at a magic # of 2 for the 1st half for their division of the Carolina League. At some point, they will have to start breaking these guys up, however.

anybody know the story on Habel. he was used as a starting pitcher the last 2 years but i believe, judging by his stats line (MILB Stats) he started in double-A with a new organization in the bullpen, but then went down to High A to make some starts. does anyone have any info on how Habel is doing and what the plans may be for him in the Brewers organization?

                      Hakim Hill-Toronto Argonauts

Saw this on Hawkeye Nation. Then went to the CFL website. Hakim Hill has made the roster of the Toronto Argonauts. www.argonauts.ca is the website. I thought he probably still has some legal issues to deal with here in the States.?????

congratulations to adam boeve, who reached AA with the Altoona Curve just this week. after some good play in lynchburg, the pirates moved him up....who knows what the situation is with the pirates and their plans for the future.....being in indianapolis, their AAA team is here and players are always rumored to be leaving from the big club in trades, which could mean more promotions for Adam in the future....good luck in AA
