Sounds like Mizzou is going with their DC.

And maybe he didn't want to walk into that political mess right now.

Fair enough.

Out of state ISU HC probably recruiting MI & OH hard. Iowa's recruiting profile raised substantially - It might end up being beneficial for UNi - that is grabbing a couple more of those Iowa guys that would otherwise a grayshirt / preferred walk on at one of the other two schools.

The recruiting angle on this is definitely something to watch. Iowa State has lately gone away from being our direct competition. Their current class only has one Iowan. Iowa, on the other hand, recruits more like UNI. Bring in the best in state guys you can find, with an eye on potentially moving them to another position and development. Often, that switch for the in state guys involves moving them closer to the ball, where a lack of speed isn't as much of an issue.

If Iowa State's new coach tries to follow the Iowa model, it won't really hurt Iowa. It will effect UNI. Think of all the Iowa grey shirt players who have switched from UNI to Iowa at the last minute. I can't think of anything similar with Iowa State. There are probably a few examples, but none that come to mind.

Not exactly what you are talking about, but Trevor Ryen left UNI and became a significant player for Iowa State this year.

Ryen did leave but he actually followed UNI track coach to Ia.State to run and decided to try football.
