Haven't seen anything official yet but it looks like Reynolds was offered a gray shirt at Iowa, will take his official visit this weekend and is a near certainty to commit to the Hawks. Oh well.

It's pretty funny to hear the Beckman kids always telling people and putting in their recruiting videos that they run 4.4 40's. Very comical.

This one is saying he'd like to get UNDER 4.3 LOL.

Do they not know how ridiculous they sound? Do they really not know how fast a 4.4 REALLY is? Do they watch the NFL combine?

They would be mid 4.5 at best. Besides, most of them weigh like 160lbs.

I've been told he is going to be a RB. He's not a defensive player.

His hudl profile/highlight video lists him at 6'2 215

If he truly was that fast...his vertical would be higher too....

Which was why I mentioned that the source I was told this from tends to stretch the truth. I would imagine if he was really that fast and wasn't getting BCS offers then he should go run track because that is really fast.

Sounds like Farley brought some guests with him to the wrestling meet tonight. I'm hoping some of the recruits on official visits enjoyed the passion and atmosphere of the West Gym. It'll be interesting to see if there is any more movement after this weekend in terms of offers or commitments

Are you suggesting we do not recruit Iowa enough? Iowans make up about 70% of our roster year in and year out. We can't land every single prospect from the state.

And if you are worried that USD is going to start out-recruiting UNI, I would say that you should definitely stop worrying.

Yes I think we all would like to have had Tyler Starr on our team, he was actually a high school teammate of Gacke, but you also have to realize as I am sure you do NW that Vermillion is closer Lyon county than Cedar Falls is.

64 of the 108 on the roster as listed Jan. 26 were Iowans. I believe this number is higher than the last few years. I'm sensitive about this being I was a high school coach in Iowa for 33 years, sending UNI a number of athletes in different sports with an excellent success rate. Recently ISU had a higher number and higher percentage of Iowans than we did.

Seems we are spending a lot of time, energy and resource that could be put to better use in state. Just my opinion and if you think out of state athletes will yield a better result look no further than our expanded national recruiting efforts since 2005. Again just my option, you have yours.

All this grayshirt nonsense has cut into it. For every kid that is successful walking on at Iowa, there are 20 others that are simply scout team fodder.

Jaha Mcray has committed to UNI per twitter

https://mobile.twitter.com/JahaMcCrayJr_1/tweets

Also per @BlakeColston on Twitter QB Dallas Sealey said he would decide between UNI and Abilene Christian by Tuesday.

That doesn't hurt UNI. Any player that is scout team fodder at Iowa would not play at UNI either.

No kidding. I don't think any of us are going to argue that Iowa and ISU, overall, get more talented recruiting classes than we do but the product that is put on the field, as evidenced by the past few seasons, isn't that far apart. I believe that there are players for those teams who don't see the field that could maybe contribute to our time, but it's not like the Hawks and Clones have practice scrubs and bench riders who would be stars in the Dome.

Wow, the Allen kid looks good. 6'4 195 LB? Nice.

Has anybody seen him play?

Watching his hudl highlights looks like a kid that you add 40 or so pounds to and you have a great rush LB in a 3-4

They might have developed at UNI if they had a chance to compete & get on the field due to lower numbers.

If he's half as good as his dad, I'll take him in a second on my team. Andre was all sorts of stud. As fast of a linebacker as I've ever seen at UNI.

It's Andres kid. He's great in high school. I was at Waukee hyvee this afternoon (he goes to waukee) and the intercom said "Andre Allen, line 1". Anyone know if he works there?

Edit: I'm a year off. AJ is the older one. Not sure if he's worth any money but he's a good prospect. Trevor is the younger one and he's the stud.

This is what wretched is talking about in regards to Ezra Szczyrback (pronounced Zer-back):
Quote:
@jszczyrb: @EzraSzczyrbak As your parents, we are proud of you knowing you have stepped back to make the best informed decision. #UNI #NDSU #UND
We offered him a scholarship on his visit during the 11-12th, he visited NDSU last weekend and gave them a verbal, but this past weekend he made an official visit to UND. Now he is apparently reconsidering. I'd keep my money on the Bison, but I guess we'll see

Todd Blythe tweeted that we got two big time commitments tonight. Don't know if that includes kids already mentioned or not.
