I posted this earlier, but Farley put an emphasis on size when he spoke to the PSC this weekend. Speed's important - but he said size still needs to be a factor. He said outside of the MVFC and Midwest, the rest of FCS is a lot smaller than us. And that's not working out too well for them.

Agree MVFC is a physical mismatch against most of FCS.

MVFC is 115-26 against FCS non-conference since 2011. That's 82% winning percentage...same as SEC in FBS over that time period (per Valley-Football.org).

Went 30-2 in 2014. Not sure what 2015 was.

Last FCS non-conference game UNI lost was in 2011 in playoffs to Montana. Interestingly...that's the same team that got NDSU. And we'll see them in CF on Sept 10th.

Jacksonville State had good size. Pretty much a bunch of SEC-type guys who didn't get to play in the SEC.

Have seen some comments on Twitter about Nick Ellis out of Aplington/Parkersburg being a UNI football commit.

But haven't seen anything official.

6'5" 270 lb OT/DT.

Can't go wrong with big fellas from AP...can ya?

And.......one more for this evening.

Austin Evans out of the KC area.

6'1" 185 lb WR/FS. And it looks like UNI's next kick returner based on the Hudl video.

I would describe his highlights as "dynamic".

Wow! Impressive, most impressive.

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2158676/...s/297051396/v2

Nice smooth moves. His returns remind me a little of Panther great Kenny Shedd. Also has a nose for the ball. Even the few times on defense he shined.

William Bradley King is a stud that NDSU/UNI is fighting over as well.

I have heard the same on Ellis. My family is friends with his family. I believe he's ours.

Bulk him up to 300-310 and you've got a hell of an OT frame

Looks like we got Brawnte Wells from Dowling Catholic!! Great sign...also was considering NDSU.
Big body '6'4, 260 and athletic with an 8' wingspan...should be a great DE and future Panther!!

Was wondering about him. He blew up a lot of running plays against CR Kennedy in the 4A championship game. He had 50 yard or so fumble return for a TD too.

Could make a nice post player for the bb team. 6'4" with 8' wingspan is probably equivalent of 7' and 260 doesn't get moved around easily.

Iowa has offered a gray-shirt, Iowa State's new coach is interested and is coming on Monday I heard, and I know that NDSU was watching the basketball team practice the other day, Western Il came to a game to watch, and I think he went to either South Dakota or SDSU last weekend. I'm pretty sure Farley visited his school, too?

From another Register article this morning, Clayberg is as much as admitting he will accept the gray shirt, which would put him on scholarship in January of 2017. Quote: "If Iowa is my dream school, shouldn't I go after that?"

In the same article, Terry Allen's son Chase (TE, 6'7', 225) is making an official visit to Iowa State Monday. Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan are his other finalists.

Well that's part of what he said. He also said he's trying to decide if a school that large would be the right fit for him and if he'd have a better chance to play earlier at a smaller school.

Interesting the Frankl kid from Ames is walking on at ISU...and that the other two schools he considered were Drake and Valpo.

I'm assuming UNI is gonna sign a QB in this class. I like the looks of the Carollo kid out of IL. Comes from a family of QBs and he can make all the throws. We're his lone offer but I suspect that will change.

Saw this on twitter
Jake Hartford committed to UNI.
https://twitter.com/JakeHartford3/st...44305220681728

He mentioned he decommitted from SDSU.
He is a big kid, that plays Safety and appears to be a hitter.

As expected, Clayberg accepted the Iowa gray-shirt offer, as opposed to several scholarship offers from FCS programs.

Well that's interesting. I did not think we pulled the scholly for TO. He looks like a heck of a player.

Glad the kid landed in a good spot. There's a lot to like about SDSU these days.

6' 3" and 215 as a senior. Could he end up at LB vs. Safety?

Farley loves LBs with speed who can play in space. They don't necessarily have to be big. I'll bet that's what he's thinking.

Also, all these taller WRs could be an admission that smaller, quicker receivers are a liability with a running threat QB who may not be so accurate. Just a guess, but the guys we've had at QB recently didn't exactly have Brady/Montana/Warner style accuracy. Captain Obvious signing off.

Still expecting to see a QB and and RB named in this class.

Unless they're moving Bryson White to RB.

Twitter also indicating UNI has offered a WR/DB named CJ Coldon out of Belleville, IL.

CJ is a junior so the coaches are getting some offers out early.

Highlights below. Check out the maroon and grey striped turf field in those highlights. Oh my...

Watched the highlight video. Oh baby...that's a corner.

Team won the 8A Florida state title. That's some serious HS football.

Hell of a get by the coaching staff.

Interesting tid bit....his HS Head Coach is Devin Bush who played Safety at Florida State and in the NFL. Was a teammate of Kurt Warner's on the Rams team that won the SuperBowl.

He looks like he has good ball instincts, obviously he was coached some by Devin, which is a great help. The funny part is, besides him (5'9") Nimmers (5'9")and Brison White (5'10"), Everyone else is over 6 feet. This class is Crazy Tall!
