  • Time to leave

I have enjoyed being in the MVC but the replacements that have been added for Creighton and now Wichita (and the previous addition of Evansville) show that the Valley would rather be small and private in its focus.

It is time for UNI to be looking out for its own interest and push to move football up and every other program out of the Valley. Hook up with ISU red and push to join the MAC. They aren't better than the Valley now, but tRade the two of us, and they will be.
Number of times on Sports Illustrated cover:
Ben Jacobson coached teams = 2
UNI teams coached by everyone ban thinks is better = 0

Yes sir. This is the correct answer.

Our options may be limited, but it's time to consider the possibilities.

Couldn't agree more. I don't know if there is a realistic better option out there right now, but in my opinion we need to do all we can to find one bc the Valley is no longer a good fit for us. Our priorities are different.

Are we sure that UNI's administration wanted Murray? Maybe they are content with Valpo. If so then talk of leaving is futile.

If you take UNI and Illinois State out of the Valley and put them in the MAC, the two conferences switch places in the pecking order.

The MAC is also full of public, regional universities that cater to in-state students. It's a better culture fit too.

Yes. The reason Murray didn't get an invite can be laid right at the feet of Bradley, Drake, Evansville and Loyola.

Totally agree, just don't know if there would be mutual interest. Not to mention I don't know if FBS football is realistic financially for us.

Do it. Suck it up, fund your football program, and jump ship before you go down with it.

Serious Question: Why would the MAC be interested?
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

Basketball. The G5 is going to realize that they are in line to make more money by playing in more NCAA Tournament games than they are from football, especially after their most recent ESPN deals are up.

We also have a bit of a name in football and we don't cause an uptick in travel costs for that Western Division of the MAC. Seems like a logical step for us and the Redbirds...

That would be 14 ways to split NCAA shares.

Well, currently I think those 2 schools would be the only ones bringing any NCAA shares into the Valley anyways. A 14-way-split of something is better than a 10-way split of nothing.

What do you think about MACtion? Are you will to have lots of Tuesday and Thursday night football games?

From what I recall, most teams end up with 2 weeknight games per season. Vast majority still happen on Saturday. The boost we'd get (at least over the next few years) from the TV deal would easily outweight the loss of revenue/attendance at those weeknight games.
