Only if said teams tie in conference record and also head-head. At that point there is no great measure so why non SOS? It's not like the Valley is seeding them based on SOS regardless of how they performed in the season.
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

Sticking this thread for easier reference this post season. RPI numbers may be of benefit...
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I'm even more upset with the seed that WSU got. Our conference gets no respect.

            • CBS Sports is not correctly calculating our RPI as it shows our D1 record as 4-3 (https://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...-gritty-report).

According to live-rpi.com, our RPI is currently 27th in the nation (http://www.rpiforecast.com/live-rpi.html).

With 46, 26, and 21 still left to play, and five other Valley members currently in the top 100. Gosh dang, this is a strong schedule.

                • When was the last time 4 Valley teams were in the Mid-Major Madness Top 25? Conference is doing well this year.

                  • HUGE win for the valley tonight; Loyola over #5 Florida

                    • Barring collapse of multiple teams down the stretch, the Valley definitely looks like a multi-bid league this year. Almost every team made vast improvements... and then there is the Redbirds.

                      • I realize things like like conference moves need to be judged over the long term, but for the time being, at least, the Shockers’ move to the AAC has taken them to a weaker conference than the one they left (see conference rpi’s). So, Gregg and WSU fans, enjoy the brighter lights and better restaurants; meanwhile, the Valley enjoys the better basketball.

Let's wait until conference play starts and the rankings for each conference are more or less locked in before we start talking about how the AAC is not as good as the Valley.

AAC will pass the MVC but just barely based on forecasts, but the bottom of the AAC is real bad. Forecasted conference rankings have AAC 7 and MVC 8 at .5396 and .5367 respectively.

The top end of the AAC is better than the MVC, but the bottom end of the AAC is pretty bad, which is why I always got a kick out of the talk about not having to play dregs like Bradley, Drake and Evansville anymore from WSU fans.

Both conference currently have 7 in the top 120, but the average of each sways towards the AAC.

MVC has 8 of 10 members in the 137 and 9 of 10 in the top 162 for expected RPI. Drake is the lowest at 216
AAC 8 in the top 162 for expected RPI, but they have 2 teams at 279 and 282 with another (Tulsa) teetering on the edge of being a quality top 150-160 team (expected at 175) or falling to 200+

This years MVC proves that when every team schedules up, and plays decent basketball, we "don't need" WSU and Creighton to "prop us up". The worst SOS forecast in the MVC right now is 117 - Bradley, with 4 top 100 schedules. That shifts if you change it to OOC SOS, but what is being shown is that if you play a poor schedule and WIN you still do massive things to help the RPI.

As I've said on MVCFans many times - the biggest difference between 05-10 and 13-present in the MVC is the bottom half of the league not winning OOC. Having a conference do really well OOC, even against a poorer SOS, still shifts RPI way up because of it's calculation weights. It's why the high majors play garbage OOCs. They all win a ton of games and end up confusing the RPI to rank everyone highly.

Will there be enough marquee wins to get multiple bids? I don't know, but we are putting the conference in a position to really make it tough. The LUC win over Florida, UNI has a great start on it with 3 really big games left to solidify it, Valpo has Purdue Ball State and Northwestern left. If they can get 2 of 3 of those they will have 2 top 100 wins added to their resume.

There, if the OOC finishes well, are 4 teams right now that could/should fight for the confernce title and be in the AL hunt with UNI/MSU/LUC/Valpo.

                              • I took a trip to the Shocker board for the first time in several months... One posters comment was basically, 'yeah, the MVC men have improved, but the women are terrible.'

I think the Valley has a shot at at-large, but two or three teams will need to separate themselves well above the pack.
