The good news: UNI did very well in several categories in the recently released APR by the NCAA.

The bad news: UNI was the only school in the MVC to have a scholarship penalty (Cross Country). The NCAA penalized UNI 0.11 of a scholarship. The NCAA recognizes XC and T&F as one lump sum of scholarships from what I have read. UNI is allowed to give 12.58 scholarships for next year.

The NCAA allows each division I track and field / cross country program 12.69 scholarships for men and 18 for women.
However, per the NCAA APR site, it shows that UNI only was penalized 0.02 scholarships. Oh well...it's fairly trivial amount, but something we want to see better.
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

This really doesn't hurt UNI too much as it's barely one tenth of a scholy, and 0.8% of the total scholys available to UNI mens T&F/XC. I believe the reason for the low numbers is b/c there was a coaching change (Kepler to Utah) and some guys left the school. With such a small roster to begin with, I think it hurt the overall APR. Hopefully, there is more stability in that sport now.

Only Football and Baseball are anywhere close to the 925 number that puts a program in risk of losing scholarships. With baseball's final season this year, that doesn't matter anymore, but football is a sport to watch.

    Other things of note:
Sport (Multi-Year APR) percentile rank within sport
    Baseball (935) 30-40th
    M Basketball (942) 50-60th
    M Cross C (825) 1-10th
    Football (935) 40-50th
    M Golf (974) 50-60th
    M Track (941) 30-40th
    Wrestling (954) 50-60th
    W Basketball (971) 50-60th
    W Cross C (990) 70-80th
    W Golf (972) 30-40th
    Soccer (990) 80-90th
    Softball (972) 50-60th

    Tennis (1000) 90-100th
    W Track (990) 80-90th

    Also:
The NCAA determined that if a school finishes above 925 out of 1000 possible points in their APR numbers, an institution can escape penalties (According to the NCAA, a 925 APR corresponds roughly to a 60% graduation rate.) In addition if a school has an APR above 900 but doesn’t have anyone transfer or drop out that isn’t in good academic standing, that school also escapes penalties.
Supposedly, Purdue took their scholarship hit last year in anticipation of the scholarship reduction ruling just released. Iowa State did this a couple years ago.

Old thread, but pertinent. NCAA will tie future NCAA tournament money to those programs who excel in the classroom. This is great news for UNI. Won't begin until 2020 though.

          Re: Academic Progress Report

Currently each school receives 1/12 of a unit for every NCAA tournament game played by a conference school, with the actual school participating getting another 1/12, and the conference office getting the remaining 1/12, right?

Do you think the conference would split this academic money the same way?

Having a mix-and-match football conference overlapping the MVC will make for fun with accounting!!
