they also play in the big ten.

Yes, we know. Anytime the Hawks step foot in CF it is a gift to all local citizens, and representatives of the University of Northern Iowa. We should be grateful that they were incredibly generous to us for all those years, going out of their way, making huge scheduling sacrifices, to play a basketball game in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Hey man.. back off.. that 90 minute drive there is hard to schedule... I mean, you've got to get a bus, and everyone on it. That's more coordination than Fran's team has seen in the last year.

I wish I could go one game above .500 and make it to the NIT. Oh and have your fans want to fight UNI fans who refuse to agree that "The Hawks are better because we're the Hawks".

I disagree the previous arrangement was some amazing gift for UNI. Both schools benefited.

In my opinion, if the Des Moines event was an actual tournament (big 3 screw Drake), or if UNI played both iowa and ISU each year I would still prefer the home games but would support the Des Moines event.
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

iowa benefited by getting a challenging game....something they could have received from any mid major school in the country that they would have called.

UNI got a home and home with a high major...something they cant get from anyone.

Not that would generate the same fan interest or in-state media attention. With a few exceptions of likes of Gonzaga or Butler

i see why you think that way but dont you think that if iowa agreed that they would have kept the series going? its just not an even trade off.

i think playing in DSM clearly benefits iowa more than playing in CF.

You really think so? Wow. Amazing deduction.

It wasn't always the case. If we still played these games in the Dome, the series might just have continued because Iowa knew they could get 6-8K fans to come out to the Dome and try and neutralize our home court. Once the McLeod was built, those fans couldn't just get their easy tickets to see their beloved Hawks in their own back yard (it's just too much to drive to Iowa City, not that 2/3 of those fans have even been on campus in Iowa City anyways, but that's a different story).

But we got good, built an arena that we can put our own fans in without a lot of room to spare for the casual "I live in Iowa so I have to be a Hawkeye" fans, and the Hawks tucked tail and ran. They may keep this sham in Des Moines going for a few years if they can win most of the games, but if we prove too even a match for them there, they'll cut and run from it as well. Gotta squeeze in room for Grambling State or Prairie View A&M.

As for PsyCaffrey, looks like he's putting a schedule together to apply for a job at SMU.

as ive pointed out before, UNI is a DECISIVE 2-3 vs iowa over the past 5 years, which just happened to feature the best years in the history of UNI basketball and the worst years in the history of iowa basketball. what if UNI hits a slump and iowa bounces back? it happens to everyone at some point.

iowa decided that they were not getting enough out of the previous relationship. thats all. who cares.
