Creighton men's basketball program slapped with $5K fine, 2 years probation
National Collegiate Athletic Association's committee on infractions sanctioned Creighton University's men's basketball program with probation, limits on scholarships and program funding but stopped short of any ban on post-season play related to a former coach's alleged involvement in a 2017 bribery scandal.
In a release from the NCAA, officials concluded that former Creighton men’s basketball assistant coach Preston Murphy violated ethical conduct rules and athletics director Bruce Rasmussen failed to report that potential violation.
The following penalties were handed down by the NCAA:
Two years of probation.
A $5,000 fine plus 1% of the men’s basketball program budget.
