Panther Scholarship Fund raises $820K in cash

The goal for the Panther Scholarship Club this year was $1 million in cash. There are still renewals out there that have yet to be sent in that would get the PSC to close to $1 million. This is a great step for our program, and this trend of getting more people associated with the PSC needs to continue. The golf tours this summer are great opportunities to invite friends to see just what the PSC does, and how much it affects the student-athletes.The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Going by the numbers presented there has been a 32% increase in cash contributions. I know we all wish someone could wave a magic wand and suddenly UNI Athletics would be swimming in money, but in the real world that is outstanding. Congratulations to all the PSC workers and volunteers for a job well done.
Now a question, is this money used to pay scholarships on a current basis or to endow scholarships?GO PANTHERS!

Good question. I think it's all current scholarships, but it might be endowed. Very good question that I'm sure someone else could answer. The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. Some of this cash raised each year should be going to endow scholarships. (I don't know the ins and outs of endowments or the legality, but if it's legal...it would be great to have UNI athletics scholarships totally endowed in a handful of years."10% of life is what happens to you, 90% is how you react to what happens."

It would be great, but UNI only has like 5% of it's scholarships endowed. UNI has a long way to go.The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. Just taking a rough estimate I'd say it would take something around $120 million give or take $20 million to fully endow scholarships, so yeah we probably have quite a ways to go on that.
Actually with tuition increases at 20% a year there is no amount of money that will fully endow scholarships, but hopefull we've seen the end of the double double digit increases.GO PANTHERS!

Re: Panther Scholarship Fund raises $820K in cash
This was the closest thread I could find to post this.
UNI PSC Rally in the Valley Saturday, April 21st @ McLeod Center. Tickets are still available to attend. UNI student/athletes thank you for your support!
We will have some fascinating items at this year's silent auction including a donated car! Don't miss out on this opportunity to sport a new vehicle for yourself, a family member, or friend! You will also have the chance to bid on free gas for an entire year! With gas prices climbing higher and higher, this would be an awesome item to have! Other auction items include a Goose Island Brewery get-a-way in Chicago and a customized UNI remote controlled helicopter! These are just a few of the exciting items that will be available this year!
Also, it is not too late to purchase your raffle tickets for the Rally in the Valley if you have not done so. Tickets are being sold at a price of $25 each or $50 for three. Don't miss out on an opportunity to win some great prizes. The first prize winner will receive $5,000 in cash, and we will also be giving four second place prizes of $500 cash. You do not need to be present to win.
For more information contact Kerry Dickerson at 319-273-6443 or via email at [email protected].

This is a real old thread, but I thought it was appropriate to show how things have gone at UNI in their PSC contributions. If you scroll up on this thread, you will see how ecstatic we were at raising $820,000 in 2006 (goal was $1M). Now, the PSC is pushing towards at $1.5M goal. I saw where they are up to $1.282M in contributions thus far this year...hopefully they can blow past the $1.5M goal this year. Anyone remember how much was raised this past year? The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
