UNI recruiting Iowa hard
As seen every year, the Northern Iowa football coaches are making the state of Iowa a priority. The Panthers may have only signed six in-state athletes on Signing Day 2006 but that number should increase this year. It appears as if there are more prospects in the Class of 2007 and that will give Northern Iowa and many other college coaches a chance to add more Iowans to their roster. Every year, their recruiting seems to remain a mystery until Signing Day. The team has done a great job landing some big named players recently but there will always be players like Ross Hageman who fly under the radar. Listed below are a number of in-state players that have been receiving early interest from the Panthers.
Caleb Walter - West Branch - Quarterback
Walter has been a three year starter behind center for one of the most tradition rich football schools in Iowa. His athleticism allows him to make plays outside the pocket. After attending a camp at Northern Iowa this summer, he became the first in-state player in quite some time to receive an offer from the Panthers before the football season started. Walter also holds an offer from Wyoming and is getting interest from Iowa, Iowa State, and Wisconsin.
