Kwik Star on the hill

    Kwik Star on the hill

    Driving down College Hill today and pulled into the very busy Kwik Star that was full of college kids. Went to fill up with gas and pump one was a beautifully wrapped Iowa Hawkeye pump island. After throwing up a bit in my mouth noticed that pump islands 2 & 3 were normal Kwik Star pumps but island 4 was wrapped in Iowa State logos. WTF Kwik Star and WTF UNI. That’s just not acceptable. Who’s got a connection at UNI that can get some action? UNI has a graphics program with print capabilities. This isn’t a hard problem to solve.

    Sorry for the rant but it’s game week and I can’t stand seeing that right on campus.
    If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

      In addition to the "rant" (your word), I hope you took the time to talk to the manager inside the store to express your feelings. Please tell us you did!

        The inside was lined up 5 deep and I didn't have time to wait for a chat. Needs to happen though.

          Oh please. Don't do this. Just don't be that person. The store manager, worried about staffing and inventory and stocking shelves, has NOTHING to do with this kind of thing. Less than nothing. Complain to the pump, if you need something to directly hear your ire. The pump is closer to the issue.

          They're corporate sponsorships, and they don't carve out for other schools. I'd be contacting Kwik Star and encouraging them to explore similar partnerships with UNI.

              The Kwik Star corporate reply, below:

              . . . – thank you for your note. We are sponsoring the Cy-Hawks series this year with Iowa Corn (throughout the entire state of IA).

              But, we also sponsor / have a great partnership with UNI. We’ll perhaps look to merchandise UNI a bit more in the future in Cedar Falls.

              Yes, he said “perhaps,” but it was a gracious reply and, realistically, all one could expect. I thanked him.

                Or we don't need to be butt hurt about everything and *****ing to the local manager/franchisee does **** all except add more **** to their jobs because that is all from corporate. Each location isn't out there finding marketing/logos/sponsors for their pumps.

                I live in the CR metro and Kwik Star pumps are also wrapped with ISU logos down here.
