Western Illinois in the news for the wrong reasons

Apparently, enrollment has shrunk from approximately 12,000 in 2014 to roughly 6,000 this year. With all of the negative follow-on effects.

Currently 12,000 employees for 6,000 students. That seems out of whack.

Western won't exist as a 4 year institution 10 years from now. Geographically isolated and cratering enrollment is a bad combination.

Their website states 1,313 employees (faculty and staff - https://www.wiu.edu/irp/fast_facts.php). Wonder where the Peoria TV station got that 12k number.
