There has been talk before on how after SIU's Sweet Sixteen run, the university had record application numbers. It prompted me to look at the increase that came after the 89-90 UNI tourney run. Sure enough, UNI's enrollment went from 11,500 in 89-90 to 12,600 the following year. Then, two years after that, the enrollment went up to 13,163. That is a 1,663 attendence increase to the university over 3 years. UNI did not top that mark for 6 more years. I think there is alot to be said about how much the NCAA Tourney does for a school's reputation and "sexiness". Let's hope the money comes in for the university after this tourney appearance. I don't know if attendence will increase due to Koob's want to keep the attendence about where it is now. The number of applications will tell the story over the next few years.

The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

UNI has been limiting enrollment since the 13K days with all of the budget cuts. I'm not sure exactly why that is since they should be bringing in more $ with each student and they rarely add additional sections of courses. My guess is that the administration wants to keep it around 11K-12K.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Yes, but it would be interesting to see how many more applications are sent to UNI (i.e.-if there is an increase compared to prior years). I know they want to limit in-state numbers, but out of state students pay the whole sum, so they are more lucrative to keep. I think out of state applications will be the number to really check out.
