would be cool to see UNI alums win this award in back-to-back years.

I hadn't thought of that. What a nice little story that would be.

What FCS school has produced leage MVPs, super bowl MVPs, defensive players of the year and two different NFL man of the years?

There'd only be one school on that list.
Winning is more fun than losing.

I think that would be any school, not just FCS schools.

Y'know, between Mike Furrey and Kurt Warner, those guys could give seminars on how to last in the NFL.

The award ended up going to Chiefs guard Brian Waters, but still cool for Furrey to have been a finalist.

Not get the award doesn't diminish the outstanding contributions Mike has made to communities where he has lived.

BTW - I though that the presentation of the award was run like an afterthought. If it actually means something, give it more than 13 seconds. Let the guy at least say thank you or something.

I agree, but don't do it on the field. I really feel for those players who are out there getting amped up to play on the biggest stage and then they have to sit and wait a half-hour before the game kicks off so they can hand out awards, sing "America the Beautiful" and "The Star Spangled Banner" (Which I thought was a wonderful rendition until the last BRUTAL note.

I am a huge Carrie Underwood fan and was so proud of her during that whole song... until that final note. Ouch. Oh well. That's a tough song to sing -- and especially in an environment like that.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Hopefully he recovers fully regardless if he keeps playing. Though it would be nice to have another Panther playing on the Redskins.
