    Officials call "roughing the passer" on Jamar Thompson during NDSU's drive right after the UNI touchdown. There is no way that it is a late hit at all.
    But he may have gotten his hands up around the helmet of Mohler (after going up trying to block the pass), or perhaps there was a bit extra after the hit, I dunno.

    (not that anyone was talking about that. I just got to it during my review of the tv broadcast, so I thought I'd comment)

      In my row, which is just about 5 in front of yours Jay, we called that a penalty for obeying the laws of gravity. I think even the NDSU guys next to me agreed. Thompson jumped to try and block the pass, the QB threw it over or thru his outstretched arms, and he came down on the QB.

        Did he get his hands up around the face/helmet of the QB? I can't remember. And even so, if it was inadvertant, I don't agree with it, but they'll often call that, and it certainly wasn't a late hit.
