  • 2013 Football Season

I am really looking forward to the season having Sawyer with a year under his belt I think he takes his game to a whole new level We are loaded in the backfield with DJ coming back and a few other really quality backs waiting in the wings. The receiving/tight end core may be the best one in the last 4 years. The O line needs to step up from last year, again with the talent we have at the skilled positions our success ultimately is on them.

Defensively I think we return enough up front and enough coming in to be a very solid defense. The D line does need to take a step forward this year, I really wish we had a 1st class edge rusher like we had with Ruffin which would make things easier on the linebacker and secondary. The backers should be solid returning all of the talent we do with Gacke, Farley, and Busher. The DB's are a question mark but I think with younger players like Kilfoy and Hall playing as true freshman and incoming recruits with the kid from Maryland, and the JC player out of Kansas we should be alright .

Specialties are fine with Sieversten at PK who is the punter is the real question mark here.

We really need to get back to our rightful spot on top of the Valley

Will Zach Kerndt be the punter? I think he was a juco All American.

If he is an All American at whatever level they tend to be a good replacement. Let's hope that he continues his high level of punting.

no offense toward Mr. Kerndt, but I'm hoping he has a very boring time next season (meaning that our offense would be good enough that there would be a need for very few punts). I know, dreams like that aren't often reality, but anyway...

Little more Qb seasoning and a better defensively line and uni should be a playoff team.

We have the WRs to run a Patriots-style pass offense. Let's do this.....lull them the sleep and then give it to DJ.

Seems like we need more speed at WR. Have some solid guys, but will they be able to seperate?

Seems like last year we had the fastest guy on NFL pro day/combine record who happened to be a WR... Of course during the NDSU game, he was being covered by a NFL caliber corner (who happens to be coming back next year).

                  Just sayin

Not being critical of your post but I'd recommend watching some of sinkfield's highlight tapes. The kid had to adjust to passing consistently. Its not about the seperation over the years its about ball placement. If Sawyer is better in that category this year...should be exciting.

I'd put this year more on the OL than anything. Our offense is loaded as ever. Nelson needs to do his job this year...
"We're not an ordinary school," said Fort. "We have tradition. We have a good team year after year. We rebuild, and it doesn't matter who we have coming back."

Everyone looks good on highlight tapes. That's why they are called highlights. I'm talking about next year. And yes, WR's need to be able to create separation.

Next year we will have the best skill players in the conf. Just like every year. Seperation will not be the issue.

I wish we had the best skill players in the conference every year. Unfortunately that's not the case.

I understand we are moving to a 3-4 defense next year. Has anyone heard the same??
