Re: ESPN College Gameday to Fargo

I did watch. Just my hatred boileth over. It was cool, though I was honestly a little bored with it last year. Just felt like it was missing some pep or something. I'm sure it'll be better this year.

If gameday was in cf I'd fly up there as soon as I could for that!

The thing that pisses me off more than anything is that they two games they have chosen have been against two teams that would struggle against many high school teams, go to Fargo for a "big" game.

Big games aren't the point for coming to NDSU, or any other small school. They aren't trying to showcase FCS football. Nor should they, since it won't generate ratings. To them, it's about atmosphere and variety. ESPN could care less that NDSU is playing Montana the next week, since the game will matter to such a comparatively small number of people. To them, big matchups occur at the FBS level.

I'm not a fan of ESPN, but I can understand their business decisions. You'll probably see Gameday at other small schools in the future. They will always be during the non-conference portion of FCS schedules, since that's when you will most likely have some crap matchups (for TV) amongst power 5 teams. Iowa vs Iowa State is a good example of a crap matchup.

But why even go to the "big" match ups then? Your point is saying that they are going to the FCS games just cause of the crowds? Well why go to the Mich vs OSU games or Bama vs Florida/LSU/Georgia games. If they are going for the crowds, they shouldn't be going to all these "big" match-ups then. Iowa vs ISU will have a LARGE crowd on hand. Same for NIU vs NW last weekend. In state games always gather large crowds.

Whats wrong with CF when NDSU comes to town? Why not come that weekend? That is a top 10 match-up in FCS ball. Would much rather have them come and showcase a game that is going to be competitive. I mean last year UNI @ NDSU was on more TV's in the local sports bar than any other BCS games.

Who NDSU playing this week? Who is EIW?

They picked the UNI Hawaii game on Gameday...the fans booed and Brock Jensen picked UNI which the fans didn't like. Of course the talking heads have us no shot. Corso also said Cedar Rapids...but did correct himself

I think Brock has a better read on this game than the other three - especially when the game day graphic showed "no line" on the match-up. ESPN website has Hawaii -3, essentially the home field advantage. I'll take that as a starting point against a FBS program @ their place 5 time zones away. Especially when the guy responsible for 52% of their total points is out.

I thought game day was in South Carolina? That's at least where all the attention was at

The Hawaii lost was disappointing, but UNI Panthers be proud of what happened in Fargo yesterday. Fellow UNI alum Chris Klieman's first home game as head coach and in addition to the win, he's featured on ESPN GameDay! This was great for NDSU, FCS, MVFC and UNI. I talked to a GameDay Producer Friday night while visiting their production truck and she said GameDay will be back in Fargo. They love the football culture, the crowds, the ethusiam and the downtown setting. No crap from Lakes this year about GameDay's location. Good! Go Panthers and we will see you November 8 if not sooner! http://youtu.be/jvG1vbJtUTQ
