      We need you Cap'n.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

        It's just a game, people.

BAP is right. The conference is so much monumentally better than in the years in which UNI dominated. We were the only game in town with an occasional threat from EIU or WIU. When the likes of ILSU and YSU, then the Dakotas started to challenge with greater ardor, you knew the conference landscape was altered for good.

You think all those other Gateway/Valley teams liked getting their azzes handed to them decade after decade? We can't now begrudge them the opportunity to succeed.

Continue to be proud. Continue to wear the purple. UNI never left, she's just caught up in college football's ever-roiling evolutionary process.

One last thing. The coaching staff does not owe anyone a national championship. Think about that.

Going to take a cat nap now. Meow and out.

And well... that pretty much sums it up!

I like the Captain, but that was a little too rainbows and juiceboxes for me.

              What's wrong with juice boxes?

Understandable. Each fan has his or her individual tolerance level for athletic success.

Think of the dozens and dozens of schools who have rarely, if ever, had even a whiff of playoffs, then compare to UNI. Most fans go a lifetime without one win in the tournament, yet they continue to walk beside their guys, year after year.

Perspective, that's all. Don't let it ruin your life. If things need to change, they will.

Yeah, I did. SIU is far from your typical conference also-ran.
