154K according to the open salary list from '22 that came up when I googled.
    But your point still stands.

        Follow the money.

Farley's contract is through the '26 season. His previous contract had a provision which guaranteed his salary for the final two (or three?) years of the contract unless he was fired by 12/31/2018 as Clenz pointed out in a post here (https://www.panthernation.com/forum/...ge5#post675251).

Does his current contract have the same sort of clause? I cannot find this one online.

If it does, that is dead money in the budget if the desire is to buy him out - either the AD does not have the money for that or the big money donors are fine with UNI football as it is since they did not do this that last time around. But it is not just his salary but how flat the funding has been for years for football operations (Clenz posted a great summary of that recently here, but I cannot find it ... if someone can, I will add the link).

Farley is as pro-UNI as you will find anywhere. And - which is the case across all of UNI athletics - his players do well academically and most finish their degrees. That is seriously impressive.
        "Well, that escalated quickly."

        • Farley is the highest paid football coach in the conference, and probably right up there in the FCS overall. We don’t need to pay his replacement the same salary to get the same results. Even if the hire is a coach who uses UNI as a stepping stone after having some success, we need a change unless we are happy with being average. And if we are, we don’t need to pay a coach top wages for average results.

I want a young coach who wants to leave for a bigger job after a few successful years. And then someone after that who sees that he was successfully doing that. That should be the model. When your coaches aren’t moving up, your program is ****e. Our program is ****e.

I can't fathom being in 2015 and going "You know what the problem with the football program is? Basketball." In 2015. We came off a season where we finished #11 in the country and were like 30 days away from beating #1 UNC when he said "We gotta stop putting resources into our basketball program and instead focus on the money pit that is FCS football."

And for bonus points he also said that we should fire Bobbi Petersen to save money for the football team. As if Bobbi's making like a million dollars a year and not like 100k at absolute most. Yeah bro, definitely. We should tank our nationally relevant, arguably most successful program so that way we can scrounge up extra dough for one assistant to help us get over the 7-4 hump and take us to a record of 7-4. Just...just hate this guy. I don't even think he likes UNI, he just likes watching "a close-by football team."
              Bla bla bla.

went to every game. Program is in the toilet.

schools like uni should not invest in coaches. Invest in facilities and Hope the coaches do so well they move on.

football is stale. Basketball is stale and nothing else draws dick.

nba player and zero ncaa appearances. Draw about 20 students a game. Jake is a one trick pony. It’s been played and it’s over.

football attendance is an absolute joke.

I would eliminate all marketing because if you don’t win people are not coming period end of discussion.

whatever season ticket sales are they have to be at an all time low and/or they don’t show up.

              • Hate to say it, guys. But most of this last post by R & B is spot on. Disappointing to find so much truth in it.

Find out what the other team wants to do, then take it away from them.

                • I didn't say that he isn't right about a lot of things, but wanting to tank the basketball team at our peak and tank our volley program is a craaaaaaazy take.

Notice I just said "that last post" - 100% agree with you on the other stuff, and just being a negative Nancy in general.

                    • It really is crazy that we had an NBA player on our roster in the Missouri ****in Valley and never played an NCAA tournament game while he was here.
