  • Question about field

What are those dark marks that look like stains along the yard lines and near the sidelines? At first I thought it was shadows but they look to consistent to be that..

They've been there since early in the season, though they seem a bit more prominent today. Don't know what they are.

the dark stains are manifestations of all the negativity in the fanbase

So by the end of next season, we'll have an all black field with with white trim and purple endzones and midfield, that will look awesome!!!

The turf there is sitting down, where the rest of the turf is standing up

I'll assume you are right because I've learned that you almost always are, but it sure looks like stains and they always seem to be in the same places. Perhaps that is just because they get matted in a particular way during the week. I'm glad the OP asked because I've been wondering if we did something right away to mess up this turf too.

That was my initial concern too. But I hope with the manufacturer's overseeing the install, and the thought put into the purchase and type needed for the Dome, we didn't mess it up this soon. I just hope those areas don't wear out quicker because those parts are sitting down. And I'm really glad other people saw the same thing I did on the turf too, lol

On the ESPN stream, the angle looking at it from the home side has had some botchiness in areas all season. But, yes, for this game there were more areas that look pretty bad from that angle (which is the main shot they use for wide shots).

Does anyone know if the AD is looking into getting it fixed?

I hope not. Black is not a school color.

I agree, but their game pants tell a different story. I'd prefer them to use the white or even purple more often.

white isn't a school color either.

Some of you fellas sure are wringing some hands about some texture in the new turf.

They're not stains. The turf is a huge improvement and looks great in the Dome. Let's stop worrying about nothing.

I think it was a valid concern, considering that I've never seen the "texture" marks in other turfs in various stadiums, both in person and on TV. It's a great field, just when I, and apparently others, see the "texture" in the turf it does detract from it and I wondered what happened to it, since it's barely a year old. Hopefully it will lay right and not be as noticeable in the future.
