Game IV:Youngstown State(Homecoming)

Ok, so its homecoming week(one of the earliest I can ever remember, not sure why we are this early vs the normal mid-october but I digress)

Day has 2 full weeks of practice with the 1's under his belt by Saturday.

I personally felt the offense vs St. Thomas was pretty vanilla and we were playing pretty conservative. Do we do the same playing for NDSU?

This feels like a stinking trap game, though the penguin D has been awful(not allowing less than 38 points a game all season.) and no less than 323 yards passing all season. Their rushing defense is better but not by much.

Part of me wants to see the offense opened up and let her rip for the confidence boost going into Fargo.

perhaps they decided to have it this week because football, volleyball, and soccer all have home contests this weekend. (and softball has a home fall tournament, and a few club sports have home events as well).

I seem to remember homecoming even happening in September on occasion.
I don't see anything wrong with having it first weekend of October. Better chance of decent weather then than if it is held in later October.

It's a game where we just need to handle business. Youngstown isn't very good and I think we'll control the line is scrimmage pretty easily on both sides.

Playing a reasonable schedule is SO big for setting up the meat grinder.

Get a W and set up our biggest game in several years next weekend.

I love that we have this game in early October this year. The weather looks gorgeous -- if that small chance of rain can hold off. I'm excited to take my family to the Homecoming parade downtown Cedar Falls. If you're returning to town and haven't been here in a while, please check out the downtown area. It's beautiful and expanding, and though I had nothing to do with it, I'm pretty proud of it. My younger son gets to be on the field for the Anthem and the team intro due to the Anthem Buddies program, and I'm just excited to make a day out of cheering on our Panthers. Attendance has been down, and there are things to be concerned about, but there's also much to be thankful for as a Panther. Do what you can to help get some butts in the seats, tailgate safely, cheer loudly, remember we're supporting student athletes, and lets make some memories this weekend.

It will now be a weekly contribution of mine to these threads to include the pernt spread, so as to sooth the nattering neybombs of negativity, rooting against UNI. So, as of this writing, UNI is a 16 pernt favorite.

What does this mean for us? DON'T EXPECT us to win by more than what the experts are forecasting. If we do, awesome (right, folks?), but we're not supposed to win by much more than 16.

So, we want NO GRIPING if the game falls relatively within the pernt spread. Got it? Good...

Every week I see people thinking this defense gives up 3 tds or more. That just happens almost never if it isn't SDSU/NDSU or a super explosive offense. YSU is neither of those.

every week I see people talking about how our upcoming opponent is terrible and that we are going to steamroll them.
then when the game happens, and it ends up just being a normal decent win (b/c the opponent wasn't actually that bad), they whinge about how our program is underperforming
