Wow just shocked but thrilled for the next steps:
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

      Mixed feelings.

Article already on unipanthers.com. Just guessing but I'm thinking this was in the works for at least a couple of days, and held off to avoid affecting the game yesterday.

Definitely has the feel of a mutual agreement. I'm sure there's a financial settlement of some sort.

Looking forward to celebrating Mark on the 23rd.

I expect a full outside hire and the Bowlsby firm to be the ones running the search.

Guessing there was a “gentleman’s agreement” for this firm to be involved in the next high profile search, but is it financially prudent for UNI to be paying commissions to a search firm given current finances?

            Unequivocally yes.

They do all the due diligence and have access to candidates that we may not be able to flush out on our own.

Incredibly glad to hear they came to this agreement at this time.

Best way for this to end. Mark gets one more home game for a farewell.

The players get some clarity...at least that change is coming whatever their situation is.

Can get the search started asap and impact recruiting as little as possible.

Start setting the table for next year.

Great news. And best of luck for MF...thanks for bleeding purple for decades.

Immense sadness. It should have not been this way.

Jeremiah Johnson is an obvious candidate. Has the experience now, and his family still lives here.

I get it and JJ is a really good defensive coordinator, but the national search part of this allows for us to maybe think outside the box. I think we should think a bit outside the box this time.

It's time. I just wish he could have gone out on better circumstances.

That’s great news. I don’t have mixed feelings about this. Let’s go get a young hungry guy who wants to make a name for himself and move up. No more mooches.

Why would the Bowlsby firm be involved in this search when some UNI coaches ruined the AD search?

It’s surprisingly good to see that some donors have Farley’s ear and advised him it’s past time to step down. It’s too bad that it took this kind of season for Farley to accept he needs to go. If UNI had another win or two in its record, or just two wins in conference play, this topic would not have come up and I believe he would have stayed thru the end of his contract, even though the poor results continue season after season.

Hopefully Franklin has a nice spot for him in the athletic department fundraising away from the football program and he is not a part of the coach selection process. This new hire should not have to worry about Farley looking over his shoulder and questioning what the new coach is doing. That’s our job

He can if they can win their game against Indiana State, which isn’t a given.
