That Campbell is interviewing for NFL teams must mean he views that as his next step. He’s reportedly turned down interest from some big college programs.
I don't think Campbell actually wants to go to the NFL. He's a "leader/molder of young men" kind of guy, and you aren't going to get that in the NFL. From what I've read, you will sometimes see coaches use interview opportunities to better understand how organizations or teams are run, so you can use that for your own program. It also allows you to build relationships with more NFL higher ups, which will be beneficial for his players looking to get to the next level. I'd also say that Clanton has made it very clear he is always looking to move to the proverbial ladder.

Seems like a pretty solid hire.

        • Tiernan Vikes from Grundy Center committed tonight.

Big, big get. Was headed to Minnesota but the ride got pulled with the new roster rules

6-5 kid that can really run.

Keep an eye on Trent Cakerice from Grundy as well. 6-6 300 OL that was. PWO at Iowa this past year.

              • I sure that there will be a new one, it is essentially the Director of Football Operations position rebranded.

                • I like it. If there's anyone that can relate to college kids, it's a 23 year old.

Kind of nice to go outside the box after we've been so hard inside it for so long.

I haven't seen anything else about him transferring, but when I coached against him his Sophomore and Junior year of high school I thought that he had a chance to play in the NFL. The kid was very young for his grade, had a great frame and was just a technician on both sides of the ball. He just needed more weight.

                    • The staff was not kidding when they said they were going to attack the state of Iowa. This roster is really going to be loaded with in-state guys.

Iowa asked him to hang on through spring ball to see if they have a ride for him.

Agreed. He's probably an NFL kid assuming the agility continues to improve.

                              • We got a committment yesterday from John Raybuck. I feel like there's more to the story but seems like a great add on the surface. He's a 6'1" 210lb RB from Texas.

He had offers a year or so ago from SMU and Arkansas among others but ended up playing last year at Missouri Southern State University.\
