Like I said in the other thread. They gotta be so happy with their new conference now and getting a better seed this season only to waste it in the post season. They can lose every first game of the post season and I would cry happy tears.

If they could just get out of that crappy American Conference, then things would be different. That league is holding them back.

Somehow, this is the Valley's fault.

Blame Elgin. Anyway, I'm gonna go read shockernet

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy than Greggggggg
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I'm sure Mrs. Greggggggg took the loss with her usual calm demeanour.

The Panthers not having a great season and miss the tourney has been tough. But seeing WSU and Creighton lose in the first round sure has been a nice consolation prize.

Thank Gawd that Wichita left the MVC so Valley teams could get a share of NCAA tourney revenue this year!!
Winning is more fun than losing.

This was my thought exactly. After how far away our performance was from a NCAA tournament team this year, I didn’t think the tournament would make me feel better about UNI and MVC hoops. But then Loyola wins to give MVC 10 Straight 1st Round games, while Creighton and WSU both lose. Good to see a current MVC team have success in the tourney other than us and the two that left (I think those three schools responsible for all previous 9 of those wins).

Then also today, Texas loses another 1st Round shocker by blowing a 14 point lead. Seeing their players’, Shaka’s, and fan reactions gave fond memories of the Jespersen moment, though I did feel a little bad for them that they got bounced in such fashion in 2 of 3 years (I don’t remember their fate in 2017).

Finally, the UMBC player, fans, and public reactions to the biggest NCAA upset of all time not only harkens back to our win over KU, but the enormity of the accomplishment pushes other shocking spectacles (like our 2016 fate) more to the back burner in the general public’s memory, at least I hope.

So far, a successful tournament. And oh yeah, Louisville misses the field entirely.

You can add Arizona losing to that list. At least that's a game they won't have to vacate in a year or two.

The only downside to this tourney so far has been the injury to Purdue's Haas. Not that I'm a Purdue fan, but it sucks to see these athletes work all year long, make it to March and then have things like that happen. Seemed like several team came into the tourney a bit shorthanded

Nice angle. It lifts me above my petty happiness at the Shocker loss to a more lofty reason to be happy.
