Yep. A below average performance may still have won this one but they played terrrrible.

Yep. There were a couple of points under 10:00 in the 2nd half where you could feel the momentum swinging towards Loyola. They’d force a bad OR St shot and miss, go down on offense, and clank a three off the rim. That happened three or four times. They hit any one or two of those, and the momentum completely swings their way and they take the lead and win. Oh well...would’ve, could’ve, etc.

        • Congrats on a nice season Loyola. Great careers for Krutwig and Williamson-best of luck going pro.

5 NCAA shares from this season is pretty good for the Valley. Equivalent of a single bid league making the Final Four.

And I think UNI’s share of the five shares, is about $700,000. Perhaps someone who knows more about this than I can clarify.

Agreed. Yesufu could go just about anywhere and be the ultimate high energy, ignite the offense type 6th man. Drake has a lot of guys returning next year, so that had to factor in.

                  • Hot take, with how good kid Devries is, I think Drake'll be fine, long term. If anything, this helps us next year quite a bit. "Four teams competing for three at-large spots" just became "three teams..." And then Drake ought to be decent again in the year after.

It definitely sucks for Drake next year, but for the conference, and us, I think it'll be fine.

Problem is we have no reason to think that Drake will not be good next year. But we need to win non conference games as a conference and this does not help that.

                      • Drake can definitely still be at large caliber without Yesefu, assuming it doesn't convince any others to jump ship too. Their ceiling just got lower though.

Devries mighta jumped the gun a bit by boldly proclaiming everyone would be back and ready to reload next year

He said all of the seniors are coming back, which they are.

                          • There are news reports that Porter Moser is on a short list of candidates at Oklahoma, along with the North Texas coach. This could bear watching.

This tweet just was sent out too:

And if you're really digging into the evidence trail, after a few days of silence, the North Texas coach just retweeted a hype video for his team next season, which would be a very weird thing to do if there was any chance he was leaving.

Not gonna be shocked if there's an announcement tomorrow, that's an impossible job to turn down if they want him

If this were to happen, it would seem a virtual lock that Krutwig and Williamson would not come back. And Maybe others on the team catch the transfer bug like 1/3 of all other players.
