      • Should make the Tigers a top half Valley team this year.

If everything breaks just right, I think they might be able to avoid Thursday because I just don't believe in SIU at this point.

Thursday night team is not going to have the same ring to it with 4 more teams playing.

              • Basketball rules committee officially greenlighted the following rules changes:

--Eliminate the flop warning and go right to a Class B Technical (One free throw, no personal foul, game starts at point of interruption)
--Teams can use non-internet connected tablets, phones, etc to review video and stats on the bench
--Adding an additional media timeout in the second half. Media timeouts will now come at Under 17, 14, 11, 8, 4 minute marks

                • Oh thank goodness, that's what the sport of basketball needed, more breaks in the game action.

how does that work? Wouldn’t you need internet to get the stats and the video feed?

You can't have in game stats. You can only have historical stats. Basically, it's letting assistants get away from paper analytics info if they want to.

Too many media timeouts and more judgement given to officials to determine what is flopping and what is not. Not good. I'm ok with coaches having more stats, though. So, I'd say good and bad changes there.

                        • Are they eliminating a team timeout to compensate? Good grief, games are too long already.

They are not and the floating full on the first team called timeout of the second half isn't going anywhere either. I'll edit the post above. The first half will still be Under 16, 12, 8, 4, this is for the second half only.

Their justification makes no sense, none.

The rationale is to help the flow of the game so commercial breaks will not be taken when teams use their allotted timeouts.

College basketball games are too long??? You must not watch Major League Baseball, the NFL, NHL, college football, or PGA Golf. Most college b-ball clocks in at around two hours or so. An NHL playoff game would still have another intermission and third period left to play at that point.

                              • All those can be true. But yes without a doubt college games are too long.

It's not just length but also downtime, etc
