OK, I'll bite. How do you figure the defending league champs with all five starters returning and only one player who got significant minutes graduating will fall to 6th?

I don't think you could make a legit argument for them to fall to sixth even without Mast unless they lose some other guys.
Mast is right there with Tucker DeVries. Probably, not better but he's even. He made that team this season and every player got better because of him. If he leaves they're not much. I believe Henry, Leons, and Travanien are all gone too. Henry and Leons were the second and third best players and Travanien was not far behind. So, like 5-6th place with Mast. Where do you get that their whole team is back without those four? Yeah, they only return like 6 that are worth a damn without the four. How is that good? Ok, dropping past Valpo may have been an overreach, but they probably can't get equal value in return. The only argument you have is the recruiting class can replace Leons, Henry, Travanien, and Mast if he leaves.

Leons confirmed like 2 months ago he's back. Tahvanainen is planning to come back last I knew. Mast is a toss-up, but the only one for sure gone is Henry.

Possibly hot take, not entirely sure, I'd rather have a season where we're good enough for an at-large (and get it, crucially, I don't want us to get screwed over by the committee) rather than a miracle Arch Madness run. The latter is fun for three days, the former is fun for a season.
We could be 25-9 on Selection Sunday. Does 25-9 make the last 11 seed playing in the First Four? No, we would have to be more like 27-7. The 25-9/26-8, would be one of the last bids to the NIT.

How many times in the last ten years has the MVC gotten two teams in? I'd obviously take that now, seeing that it's more difficult today than in years past.

We got Northern Iowa, SIU, Bradley, and the Shockers in 2006. Yeah, a long time ago. I think Creighton and Missouri State made the NIT that season too. I think Creighton and the Shockers got in the last two seasons they were here. Not 100 percent sure. Even then that's about ten years ago. So, yeah, our league is average. We run a great distance behind the A10, MWC, and the WCC. Even the MAC is better some years. This past season the ASUN was also better. I hope our bottom 4 will make some progress. The past season was horrible. The losses next season need to be held to about 7-8 to get the very last at-large. We'll see.

                • I still can't believe someone said the defending MVC champs are getting 6th, and without Mast are worse than Valpo?? They'll be a year removed from an exceptional year and, as far as we know, will return a talented squad. Knock off the clown-show crap and show some respect, dear lord.

5 times in the past 11 years and, unfortunately, Wichita was involved in 4 of those.

                    2012-Wichita, Creighton 2013-Wichita, Creighton
                    2015-Wichita, UNI
                    2016-Wichita, UNI
                    2021-Loyola, Drake

Oh and lol Brock if you think 8 losses is ever getting us an at large bid.

                    • If everyone with eligibility returned, Bradley would be returning all five starters. That is a little deceptive because JaShon Henry was their leading scorer and he came off the bench. But he is the only person who is out of eligibility I believe.

                      Mast is a tossup.
                      Leons is confirmed back.
                      Henry is gone.

Duke Dean, Zek Montgomery, Connor Hickman, Ville, and Darius Hannah could all be back too.

We are in the age where lots of things can happen, but if this holds they come in as one of the favorites in the league even without Mast. With him they are obvious favorites by a wide margin.

I was thinking something similar. I think my brain may be combining him with this guy in my head.
