I mean, the thought still ain't wrong. Our best line-up appears to be Born-[Campbell, usually]-Anderson-Duax-Henry, we certainly don't want much time with Duax at the 5.

Also gosh dang it, this is supposed to be a thread for next season's schedule.

Obviously things change quickly in college basketball with the portal and what not but, man, is the luster off that Battle 4 Atlantis field. There's not a sure fire tournament team in the bunch.

I mean you're not wrong, but there are still some big names in there.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Yeah, I still won't be too mad if we pick up a win against Michigan, North Carolina, or Villanova, even if they're all in down years.

NCAA announced that they've permanently moved opening night to the first Monday in November which is the 6th this year.

Game at USF confirmed for 11/18 on the way to Atlantis rather than on the way back as previously reported.

Will we shoot for 31 games? To get there most likely need a d3? I haven't read this in awhile. Perhaps, that was answered earlier.

It would be a good move if the league would go with 22 games. It would reduce the scheduling hassle of non-conference games with only nine to get. If a three game tourney is played then only six outside of MVC games to fit in. It could reduce the travel problems too. Another option is to go with 16 teams to get to 22 MVC games. Two divisions with 8 opposite division games and home and home with the seven divisional foes. We need to find many other ways to save money too. I'd say use the three game tournament for power 5 level games and the other 6 with comparable D1 opponents. Keep scrimmaging with teams like Wisconsin and schedule a Non D1 for the exhibition. That way all 31 would count for an at large bid.

What's stopping mid-majors from setting up small tournaments, or even resurrecting the old bracket buster type event to help with scheduling and SOS? Can nobody figure a way to make these work?

Not too many will go home and home. I liked the bracket buster, but apparently, it ran its course. It's just tough every season for us. Hence, I think it would be better with 22 MVC games regardless of how many are in the league.

22 league games is a disaster. All you're doing is guaranteeing the league 12 more losses and a greatly reduced chance at an at large when those chances are already slimmer than they were. Going to 18 makes more sense than 22.

Just kind of spitballing Battle 4 Atlantis matchups, I'm guessing the bracket looks something like:

                        Arkansas
                        UNI

                        Michigan
                        Villanova

                        Memphis
                        Stanford

                        Carolina
                        Texas Tech

They haven't gone straight NET in the past but that seems plausible to me.

Am I crazy or does this bracket look winnable? Or at the very least, not finish in last-able. There's a lot of powerhouse names here, but a lot of them are either slumping or losing what they have. If they're not fully gelled early in the season, we got a very good shot of picking up a few big wins.

I don't hate it. We know Arkansas will have an entirely new team because money and Musselman. Carolina and Villanova are going to be as rebuild-y as those two get.

Stanford isn't good. Texas Tech is a total rebuild regardless of who they hire. Memphis will have a whole new team. Juwan Howard still coaches Michigan so we're good there as long as Jake keeps his head on a swivel in the handshake line..

No reason we can't go pick up a couple wins.

If you're going to go to the Bahamas to watch the Panthers, next year is the year to do it I think.
