Injuries ABSOLUTELY have to do with the committee's decision. Rutgers would been in if they didn't.

I've seen some dumb things posted on this board...this is right up there. I can't comprehend how anyone could believe that the committee allowed a MM to make the dance because of "a favor".

      I'm flabbergasted.

Look we all know that Drake is the most powerful school in the country, traditional blue blood, they get favors all the time.

They also got beat as a 12 to Miami. If they were on Furman's spot as a 13 they could have defeated Virginia. Who knows maybe they could have made the round of 16. Really splitting hairs the difference of 12 vs 13.

Yes, right up there with Duke. Probably, a Drake Law School Alumni had someone by the Jimmy.

We might have a solid 25-9 season and still not get a damn thing. At least three non-conference losses, five regular season MVC losses, and lose in the final at Arch Madness. The 15-5 regular season looks short of winning the title for the automatic NIT bid and 9 losses may not be good enough for an at-large to either NCAA or the NIT. The NIT usually gives the last bids to a power 6. So, yeah, don't lose 9. Meanwhile, 9 losses out of the A10, MWC, and WCC gets you to at least the First Four. Such as life in the MVC.

Actually, the NIT gives out a lot of bids to teams that won their regular season conference titles but came up short in their conference tournaments. IMO it's a rare good idea from the NCAA and I like that they do that. It's why we made the NIT last season with "only" 19 wins.

You know, between this and your assertion yesterday that the Atlantic Sun is now a better conference than the Missouri Valley it really seems like you're just making sh!t up. And it makes it difficult to take you seriously when you write such silliness.

Actually, you didn't get what I referred to. I referred to the invited at-large bids not the automatic ones.

Jake consistently schedules to give us a good shot at an at-large and you have to respect that. We just haven't been able to put together a full season for one reason or another recently.

19-20 was the last example and if we didn't crap the bed against Drake I'm betting they would have got an at-large(tournament being held hypothetically of course)

I bet 7-8 losses gives us a pretty good chance considering we schedule better than the rest of the conference.

UNI, and the other contender teams in the Valley, need to win early season non-conference game against ranked P6 teams, or at least someone with high name recognition like Michigan or North Carolina. I think both of them are in this years’ BFA, correct? The MVC has had recent chances thru the early season tournaments, but almost always comes up short. Change that and the metrics used start to shift more in your favor, along with the subjective “eye test” that also comes into play.

The thing is, sometimes all you need to be a multi bid league is an upset in Arch Madness. If one team stands out in the regular season and gets themselves in position to get an at large, then falters - boom. That's why I get annoyed when people call it a one big league. We've been in position most years, other than this season to potentially be multi bid league. Sure, it helps if everybody plays well all season, but it's not like it's impossible to get if only 1 team stands out.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

With the attrition of the league to green and wet behind the ears we look more like 17-3/ 18-2, MVC and an at-large level, but need to not crap the bed out of the conference. Maybe, one other team will be NIT worthy, but we're a one bid league for this season.

This definitely could be a good season at the very least. We should be in a position to play for the top spot in the MVC this year.
