As it currently stands, I believe we are currently two over the scholarship limit.

I wouldn't be surprised if Phyfe pays his own way. But we would still need someone else to do that or transfer to get to the limit.

I am certain we didn't go into this not knowing where those extra scholarships will come from. That would not be Jake's style. So there will have to be a corresponding domino to drop one way or another. Be it someone else paying their own way, a transfer out, or some sort of waiver from the NCAA (although I have not seen any waivers that grant extra scholarships to a team too often before....other than the year right after COVID).

Kinda funny this is happening a year after we played an entire season with only nine of our 13 scholarships utilized by healthy players (and effectively eight with Courbat not playing much).

Confirmed. We are two over. I'm sure the staff knows what's happening, let's just hope it's not an important piece.

      Phyfe, Betz
      Born, Henry, Anderson, Hutson
Heise, Duax, Campbell, Wolf, Peksari, Courbat
      Rubin, Taylor, Pock

With no evidence I'm fairly confident one way or the other Phyfe isn't taking scholarship unless something opens

Hutson gets us over the hump assuming we don't lose anyone in the block other than Phyfe. You never know about the new Freshman and we need more rebounding and points in the paint. We are the favorite for now. True, Peksari might walk, but we have depth at the guard spots.

I'll throw it out there again, since it was mentioned a while back - with zero point zero inside information - what if Betz said to the staff that he thought it was time to get on with his life?

Junior center Jonathon Mogbo entered the portal for MoSU. Starter, 5th on the team in minutes.
Yeah, a D+ effort out of me on the day I created the name for this account. I didn't think I would use this account more than once.

The annual Missouri State start from scratch. A tradition unlike any other.

Missouri St had already lost Dawson Carper, too. That's two centers right there. I assume they have at least a couple more that were graduate players, so they will have a very new looking team again.

I thought about this earlier in the season, but now I'd bet he's back. If he knew he wasn't coming back, he would have been honored on Senior Night. Although there's always the chance he had a change of mind I suppose.

To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

                    • I don't know if this is even possible, and I don't think it would be the case, but is there any way that Wes was offered his scholarship back to Loyola to play with his brother since they dropped a few guys? Like I said, I have no idea if that is even a possibility.

I'm gonna say there's zero chance of that happening

He signed an NLI. He can't play anywhere else but here next year.

Luckily, his dad has never been our head coach or given out special edition friend hats...

Wildly different situation, to be fair. As far as we know, Wes Rubin's dad isn't coaching at Evansville next year.
