McChesney was never able to put it together, Krikke was gone regardless of what happened with Lottich, Mogbo was crazy inconsistent, the Drake guys were spot minute guys, Brauns isn't good enough offensively to be a true full time player.

The Valley is also going to be the recipient of guys moving down to the right level and Indiana State has had really good luck with some D2 guys. The league is going to be better next year.
Kenny White Jr would be a big loss if it wasn't for him already being suspended and just a headcase that could never be counted on there anyway.

    • Add about half the Evansville roster to this list. Stopped counting after 5 guys today

Moncrief, Phillips, Chism-Okoh, Spinelli, and Beauchamp is probably the biggest loss.

Catch 22 for them on that.

"Good news and bad news. The good news is everyone is back. The bad news is everyone is back" isn't a great discussion to be having if you are as bad as they are.

When you're awful does it really hurt to have to hit a reset button? It's not like that program can actually get any lower.

It'll be year two of the new coach. This will open up his roster to bring in some older transfers to start to try to build with.

Beauchamp hit the portal, unofficially, in December. Played only 9 games. It's not like they will have to actually find a new replacement for him that they weren't already trying to do.

Strawbridge was the only guy on that roster that had a chance to crack the starting 5 for any other roster in the Valley. The rest of them would have been 7th, or lower, for any non Valpo/UIC roster last year and I'm not sure hwo much any of them would have played for Valpo and UIC.

          • I still can't believe we lost to Evansville. Even on the road, in the middle of a skid, that one baffles me.

@ Evansville is one of the scariest games we have. Hell we lost @ Evansville during the Tuttle year. That one and @ Loyola always felt like guaranteed losses.

Didn't we lose to Evansville during the 2010 run too?

Yes. Lost to them over there at the end of February. That Evansville team finished 3-15. Probably cost us a 7 seed.

The state of Indiana has some sort of vendetta against UNI

So there was some smoke earlier this week about Heise potentially leaving, even maybe to Iowa State. Is it safe to presume that he is in fact staying in Cedar Falls?

CycloneFanatic poster adding to the wishlist of players and coaches they think they will absolutely get. Seems like almost every P6 message board does this. I've seen nor heard any truth to this.

Agreed. It has to be kinda long because it opens before a lot of teams are done with their season, but it could be 30-40 days and everyone that's playing next weekend in Houston would still have plenty of time to review their options.

Should open the Wednesday after the title game and be open for 30 days. I mean, it's not going to stop the dirty recruiting going on but it gives kids a chance to actually think.

                              • Meh. We still would have March to bite our nails and wonder if our guys have back door desks getting ready.

                                It stinks either way.

This year is the least worrisome. We have depth next year at almost every position. And if Phyfe gets healthy and the NCAA gives him the year, we do have depth at every position.
