  • Who would be on the "Mt. Rushmore" of Panther Basketball?

Thought this would be a fun topic that I haven't seen before...

Who would be your "Mt. Rushmore" of Panther basketball?

Going to add this as a thread to the football header as well.
Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold
    Victory for U-N-I!

Find out what the other team wants to do, then take it away from them.

Yepp. You could make a case for Adam or Jake to be in consideration for a 5th spot, but those four each got to define an Era. Reese established UNI in D1, Benny J started arguably the best 3 year stretch in program history, Tutt was the first AA, and AJ certainly has a case to be the GOAT just off college credentials, nevermind him being the first to have legit NBA success.

          Daggers? Sure

Newby averaged 9 points 2 boards 1 assist for his career- shooting 43% from the floor and 36% from deep
Ali was here for 2 years averaged 9 points 2 rebounds 1 assist shooting splits of 44/37
Wes played 3 years at 10 points 3 boards 4 assists 50/32 shooting splits
Paul played 2 years 8 points 3 rebounds less than 1 for every other stat with shooting splits of 44/40

All 4 were key pieces of good teams and will be remembered for decades by those who were alive at the time. None of them are remotely close to a Mt Rushmore of UNI hoops.

BC's list is the correct answer, the only issue that I have is that it doesn't include anyone from the best team in program history. Which that kind of describes how that team was with balanced scoring and no true star.

Best team (not going back to Norm Stewart's days) was Tuttle's team in terms of rankings, wins, NCAA seed.

100%. That team was way more talented but ran into a terrible matchup.

Didn't that Louisville team get in trouble as well after the fact?
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

                    Pitino was involved, so yes.

Pretty sure that season got vacated with the Final Four from 2013.

Green, Reese, Krinbrink, and Tuttle. I probably, can't spell Randy's name correct. It's tough to get the top four due to time. I like the Newby reference too. Ali's moments in 2010 we're huge too. Jesperson's versus Texas too.

A matchup that never happened, officially...UNI was never eliminated from the 2015 NCAA tournament.

Agreed - just another perspective. Might be the Mt Rushmore of UNI moments though, with wins over UNC and the (2008 or 2009?) MVC championship game comeback over Osiris Eldridge’s Illinois State also in the mix. While more recent sustained success would be fantastic, it’s still cool that a program of our size and stature has all these incredible moments and most within the last 15-20 years.

If you are including coaches, Eldon should be on there.
