I'm going to start updating throughout the season the stats of our two recruits. Redek Born is off to a great start this season. Shoots the ball well, and appears to have a well rounded game. Will Hornseth hasn't faced much competition, yet, and hasn't played much as a result. He has been very efficient, though.Name PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% FT% 3PT% Redek Born 19.5 5.3 3.8 1.6 0.2 51.6% 88.0% 41.3% Will Hornseth 15.6 7.5 2.9 1.2 2.0 73.1% 72.2% 20.0% (1/5) Last edited by PantherAlum09; 01-21-2024, 05:48 PM.

Hornseth's at a little over of 17 PPG and a whole lot of rebounds, idk I couldn't find exact data. Currently ranked #3 in Wisconsin according to random newspaper's rankings.
Both are leading their team to great success early on. Hornseth's team is really good, their only loss of the season so far being a two point loss to a team led by a 5-Star Duke commit.
All in all, good stuff so far.Last edited by sevelev711; 01-24-2024, 11:47 PM.

I will just make a new post when I update it, so everyone knows that's the date it was updated. They are both having great years. Redek has really been outstanding and his percentages are top notch. Hornseth's team is stacked. One of his teammates (Kinziger) is also going to Wisconsin, and a good chunk of their games have been blowouts. If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Stats are updated as of this morning for our two recruits. They are on the first post of this thread. Redek has been very steady shooting the ball well. Hornseth has been very solid as well. I'm not sure either of these guys move the needle for us a ton next year, but I do think between Hut, Rubin, and Hornseth, we have three guys who can play the 5 for us. That doesn't even include Tytan if we want to play really small. That also doesn't include Courbat if he has continued to develop.
Hornseth is 6'8"-6'9" but he has nice wide shoulders and definitely appears to be able to play down low if needed. I think he has nice potential to keep filling out and be a strong kid down low. Feel free to check out how they are doing as they get ready for state ball soon.

Redek is a walkon, right? I thought I remember that being the conversation initially, but I can't recall for certain. Am I right in thinking that we're one scholarship over with Hornseth? To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Word is that Henry is not using his COVID year and that's where Hornseth's ride is coming from. Cole is going to take the Grad Assistant position to start his coaching career.#MACtion

Initially I thought the best part of Born’s brother coming here was basically locking in his 5th year here, but he’s looking really good this year. He’s not a natural like his brother, but he does have a significant height advantage. A year in the weight room(180 is rather thin for 6’3) and adjust to the college game is going to be great for him. The fact we don’t have to use a scholarship initially I think is a good strategic use of a roster spot.

Add in Hornseth next year and it may be a similar situation to Betz from last year where moving on is a more appealing decision. Hopefully we can send out on a good note.

That's painful to see Courbat using a scholarship for another two years. Good kid. Great family. But that hurts.
Secondary question - I've seen nothing on Tanner Jacobson. Is he a walk-on like Hunter or is he going to go outside UNI for college? If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game.
