So there are some interesting things since I looked into these guys. Chuck Love's dad was the assistant head coach for the Nebraska Women's Basketball team but was placed on suspension and resigned this past summer. His suspension coincided with a player leaving the program. I don't believe they still live in Lincoln, but I could be wrong. Chuck Love has already been on unofficial visits to big time programs including Kansas.

Davis Kern has been on visits to Iowa and others as well as us.

Jalen Wilson has also received a ton of interest and been on unofficial visits to Iowa as well as us. He will be really interesting if he grows a couple more inches. He has a ton of skill working the post offensively. He can handle the ball well considering his size and age as well.

These guys are obviously going to be highly sought after. Interesting group

I like it, we're shooting for potential three/four star recruits early, and unlike years past, when I would've thought there was a 0% chance we get them, I'm very confidently moving those odds up to 0.5%.

FWIW - the AAU team that Pock and Love are on is LOADED, which makes their abilities and potential all the more impressive. This is just from the U17 team, there are several U16 getting mid-high D1 looks as well!

Name Ht VC ★ ranking Committed Interest From
Omaha Biliew 6-8 5 Iowa State
        Jordan Ross 6-3 4 Saint Mary’s
        Trey Green 5-11 4 Xavier
John Bol 7-2 4 Iowa, Texas, Michigan, Butler
Cameron Carr 6-4 2 Tenn, VA, SIU, SLU
Kyan Evans 6-2 2 Colorado St
        Josiah Dotzler 6-4 2 Creighton
Kayden Fish 6-7 2 Iowa State

Good god. Certainly wouldn't mind if this turns into a little pipeline of sorts.

I think I even left off another that were 2 star with low D1 interest. A pipeline into that would be amazing. I agree that Tuttle seems to be killing it, but saw coach Ahelegbe mentioned in some of the tweets… I can’t help but wonder if he has been involved as well. Maybe bringing in new relationships from his previous posts

Good point on Ahelegbe. Between him and Tuttle you’d think part of all this is due to new recruiting relationships being brought to us. An educated guess says this doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and that our existing coaches didn’t suddenly meet a lot of new people (although you never know).

One thing I’m a little wary of is all the major coaches, from all over, being attracted to that AAU team. Omaha Beliew alone is probably has all kinds of people trying to pry him away from Iowa State, so the AAU staff is probably being bombarded with contact from P6 coaches. All he and any of the others have are verbal commitments, which are worth very little.

Ahelegbe was busy in Minnesota. He also watched Brady Wooley from Orono. He is already 6'8" and has interest from high majors including Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, and others.

Man. I'm not trying to disparage the coaching/recruiting staff we've had in prior years, but man, the new guys are so much more active, and as I mentioned, appear ready to go for guys who are almost certainly going to grow past us. I like it.

Other than Crawford being gone to Iowa State and Ahelegbe coming in this staff hasn't changed since Green left and Seth moved into that roll from his GA roll, and before that the staff wasn't changed.

There's clearly been a shift, but it's not due really due to a complete staff overhaul. Seems more just a shift in focus from everyone on the staff. It feels like Jake has a chip on his shoulder again and is energized by Seth's youth. Those two obviously have a very strong bond and Jake trusts Seth to do things that he hasn't' really trusted anyone to do before.

Kyle didn't have a ton of contacts outside of Iowa and the Twin Cities and, as we're seeing at Iowa State, he's definitely more of an Xs and Os guy than a recruiter.

We all know Jake doesn't need much help with the Xs and Os side so it's actually great that he's brought in Seth and G to do the recruiting while PJ does more of the film review, game planning, administrative stuff. Seth and G seem to have really brought some new energy.

I’ve posted this before…a couple of years ago I heard from a very good source that the face of UNI in recruiting was almost all Eric Crawford. Jake’s involvement was largely behind the scenes, at least from the perspective of the players being brought in and on the roster. Crawford’s gone, and we’re seeing what seems like a different approach and emphasis, which may back up what I heard.

Nothing against Crawford. He obviously had a big part in bringing in some good players and building good teams. This just seems more aggressive with maybe a different focus. Having some P6 teams focus more on the portal probably doesn’t hurt either.

                            He's a QB as well...and a pretty good one.

His football tape is pretty sharp.

Looks like we had Will Goode in for a visit in June. He's a 6'9" PF from Overland Park, KS. It doesn't look like we have offered.
