He'll be healthy for spring. No idea where he sits with the new staff.

That loss to a D2 team isn't even the worst thing to happen to him from a PR/basketball standpoint in the last 36ish hours

He'd have been the guy this year without the ACL tear during basketball last winter.

They also have Cale McThenia as a true freshman this year who's pretty highly regarded.

It seemed like everyone thought he had great potential and was a major "get." I wonder what went wrong. Not that he should have expected to play much in his first year or two.

How many years eligibility would he have? Iowa Western’s starting QB this year is Hunter Dekkers. Big DMR article about him a few days ago. Dekkers is done after this year.

If they can work cohesively, sure, it could work out. Not that SIU is anywhere in the same ballpark as MSU, but I feel like MSU has had the same type of player (fast, athletic, tall) and done an underwhelming job over the years. Maybe their new coach can continue to make SIU from year 1, that'd be great for the league.

He has coached at the AAU level, so not TOTALLY without experience. He mentioned it this morning on the DP Show, and to be fair, he did point out that coaching college is more like coaching AAU than it ever has been, which...he's not wrong

Little different, but Rick Hartzell managed to be a high level referee for several years while also being an AD. You could argue he could have been even better at either job if he had quit the other, but that was just how he was wired and it made him who he was. You could probably say the same about Doug.
