I'm wondering if that was our worst % shooting game going back 30 years or so. The starters not named Boffeli account for a total of 8 points, shooting 2-25. Hoping McDermott's injury isn't serious! Also worried about Green!

    Drake beats ISU by 12.

Getting beat by a top 3 team in the nation was no surprise. And if it had been a low FG percentage due to the other team's defense, that would have been no surprise. But UNI couldn't even make free throws, that was just sad.

It did suck that the officials were so foul-happy, putting so many players into foul trouble so early in the game. Just takes the fun out of it. I'm by no means an expert on basketball officiating, but so many of those plays that were whistled really didn't seem like fouls to me.

        Couple of thoughts:
        1) Overall I felt the University did a great job hosting this game.
        2) Shout out to Coach Bobbi Peterson for coming to the game (She was sitting near me) after a late night or late morning return from Valparaiso. Not only is she a great volleyball coach but always there for the university and the community.
        3) Green just came back from injury and reinjured herself and McDermott hasn't look healthy all season.
        4) Goebel dressed but didn't play.
        5) Riley Wright played well.
        6) Both Green Bay and Iowa games we have shot poorly.

Did you see what might have happened to McDermott? The TV people just said "it looked like she might have been shaken up"

Goebel did play the last couple of minutes, for what it's worth. Very disappointing Panthers performance. Not only Bobbi in attendance, but also Coach Jake and Coach Tut, wrestling coaches, men's basketball players and wrestlers in student section.

Thanks. Missed Goebel. That is truly awesome the support from other UNI coaches and athletes.

McDermott seemed to not play much during Green Bay. Not sure what is up with her.

I noticed that, although even last season Wharton would often come in part way through the first quarter, which put McDermott on the bench. I don't recall coach pulling Rucker that early when McDermott was a freshman. Wharton usually looked good, so I'm not really complaining. It's just that when McDermott gets going, she's something else, and so I generally don't like to see her sit.

I just read the online Courier article about the game, and it said that afterward coach Warren was asked if the staff was aware of an injury issue with McDermott prior to the game, and coach's answer was "possibly". Don't know what to think about that.

Wharton getting the start vs Ball State, be interesting to see who spells her at point. Green playing and looking normal.

ETA I don't see McDermott on the bench. Goebel is there but not in uniform.

The announcers have only called us Northern Illinois twice. LOL

Clunky game, could be the 10 AM start for our first road game having something to do with it. I looked on their page, they were 26-9 last season, beating Belmont in the WNIT 101-86. We have some veteran players looking lost offensively.
