  • DirecTV Portable System for Tailgating!

    http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global...ssetId=3090001

DirecTV is releasing a portable all-in-one satellite receiver television combo. This would be great for tailgating! I heard that it will be in the $500-$600 range. I thought I would throw this out here for those regular tailgaters. Maybe UNIFITE would be interested?!?

Why would I want something so simple when I can wrestle with a dish for an hour on top of the RV just to get a 75% signal strength.
"This program is the most important thing. It was here before we were here, and it will be here after we leave. Right now, we represent this program and this university. We represent the community, we represent the state, and we will do everything that we can to put UNI football at the level we're proud of and always have been at this university. When I'm talking about this program, I'm talking about alumni. This place is important to them, just as it is to me." - Mark Farley, Football Coach

Because one of your brothers-in-law may fall off the roof and be permanently disabled...something their insurance probably doesn't cover!

Well......there will probably be some peaking necessary on this portable device. And anyone getting this will probably have to pay at least $30-$40 per month for the subscription even if their only going to use it for a few hours each Saturday.

are there any techies around here? i have a setup i am trying to get to work.

i have directv at my house, an HP widesceen laptop, a slingbox pro, a verizon broadband blackberry 7130e, and a DVD player in my jeep.

basically, when i am driving, i have broadband access on my laptop by using my blackberry as a tethered modem. when i have internet access, i can use my laptop to watch my home directv programming on my laptop via the slingbox and its software. it is going to be nice for tailgating by simply putting my laptop in the back of my truck to watch.

my laptop has an S-video out, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get what is showing on my laptop screen to show on my monitor in the truck. the DVD player in the truck has RCA inputs, so i bought an S-video to RCA adapter, thinking this would work. but the quality is terrible.

I know the inputs on the DVD player work, because I use them to listen to my Ipod through my car stereo system (the DVD player and NAV/stereo system are all integrated) using this same set of inputs. any recommendations?

Ames is probably your man on this one...he's a treky...I mean techy.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Haha! I like it too. I used it last year a little bit, but then brought it back again. Gary Williams likes to complain, so it's a classic photo and caption, IMO.
