  • SFA game question

I have an opportunity to piggy back a business trip to CF for SFA game on the weekend on Sep 17-20. Would it be worth the time - meaning do you think it will be a decent game? They were Southland champs last year, and return their QB.

I would rather see the NDSU game, but can't bring myself to drop $500 to listen to those over inflated egos. It does not mesh as well on the travel plans.

I can't promise you that we will spend any time together at Show me's, but I think you would be smart to make the SFA trip. They are going to be a great football team, another great team we are playing in September. NDSU will probably be the worst team we play until October.

I saw in 1 Pre-Season list...their QB was first team AA....

Any hotel recommendations in the CF/WLO area? It's been a while.

What are you looking for in a hotel?

Just something that will not be over run by college students making noise all night. Non-smoking room is a must. And an reliable internet connection, as I will likely be doing work during the weekend at some point.

I was thinking about the Isle Casino hotel.

Rooms at the Isle are very nice and usually resonably priced. I recommend it. I don't know anything specifically about the internet connection there but I would be very surprised if they didn't have it.

Priceline, 2 star, Cedar Falls, $45, you will get the Days Inn or Holiday Inn on University. Both are more than adequate from my experiences.

The Isle is fantastic as well, usually the 3 Star Hotwire.com property in Waterloo, can usually save about $45-$50 a night going that route.

                      Re: SFA game question

I stayed at the Days Inn one homecoming and it was the biggest dump I ever stayed in outside of some small town $14.95 a night roadside motel.

We left the first morning to tailgate, went to the game, went out to eat after the game, and then out for a few adult beverages. We arrived back at the DI around 1:00 or so the next morning. Our room had not been cleaned or made up. That's the only time I've ever had that happen at a hotel. I had to wake somebody up to get some clean towels.

We usually only stay overnight for homecoming, and usually stay at the Heartland Inn on hwy 63 (and Ridgeway). It's clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and there's no students partying. I cannot address the internet connection. It says on their website they have wi-fi hotspot "available". It's 5-6 miles or so from campus. The do have a special "Panther room".

The days inn on University is crap. Don't stay there.

The Comfort Suites hotel on highway 58 is probably the nicest hotel in town. Its only a few years old, and is very clean with a nice pool for kids.

That or the country inn and suites on South Main st is also very nice.

My admin booked me in the Waterloo Holiday Inn express for whatever reason. $70 per night. Still think that is too much, but she did it through hotwire - why, I don't know.

                          Anyway, that's set.

Now on to the best part of the thread - east side or west side?
Pepsi or Coke? Charlize Theron or Selma Hayek (hint: the answer is "YES").

Here's to seein some folks in CF.

Country Inns & Suites on Main & University. Can't go wrong. And the lobby looks like my grandparent's house.

SFA will be a good game. They have one of the top 3 or 5 QB's in the nation. The teams with the best QB's, IMHO, are NAU (name slips my mind right now), Montana (Selle), Delaware (Devlin), SFA, and SIU (if he stays healthy.)
