Watching the game, I wondered who the smaller dude on the OL was. He was wearing #60.

It's Palangi...he's listed at 6'5" and 305 lbs.

He looked a little undersized compared to Zlab, Danilov & Teply (who must have been exposed to nuclear radiation at some point).

The runt on the line is Admire at LG. He's 6'3" 298 (he's also listed as #61-he wore#69 and as a DL).

The program lists 13 OL.

3 are 6'8", 2 are 6'7", 3 are 6'6", 5 are 6'5"

The lightest listed is 270 and he's a true Fr. The next smallest is 286.

Heck, we only list 1 Sr and 2 Jr at OL. (again Admire is in the program as DL, so add him as a Jr.)

Agree, with Rinehart and Keith drafted in 07 and Howard making a roster from 09.....3 NFL tackles in 3 years is something to hang your hat on......

Especially with the fact that Chad and Austin were at UNI for their whole careers. I don't know if there's many NFL lineman or players, just in general, that can say they graduated from FCS schools after spending their whole 4/5 years there.

This thread stirred a memory, so I went back into the archives and looked it up. Here's an observation I made two years ago while filling in on the countdown and noticing so many huge young OLs:

"Holy crap, where do we get all these OL? Did someone open a giant factory in Iowa? Five years ago a 6-4/300 OL would have been considered huge. Now that player would be called “Tiny”, and not in a joking way."

Palgani was a center last year, so I expect him to move back next year. Also he's only a so.

And these 300+ guys are shaped differently than some other teams' OL. I remember thinking/saying how do those guys move with those big guts. Our current frames are much more physically impressive; more shoulders, arms, chests, legs, necks, buttocks and < protruding gut. Kudos to our Strength and Conditioning staff.
