Just wondering - My nephew is finishing up his Sophomore year, having played as a starting LB/RB for a successful 5A team in OK. (This is one level below Jenks HS, where Kollmorgen played in OK).
The nephew is currently a bit undersized for college FBS at 5' 10" / 190, but he's only 16, so probably still growing. However, he just posted facebook photos of squatting 500 lbs 5 times. He has a good GPA in school and has kept his nose clean, or at least hidden it pretty well from his parents. So it got me thinking.
When do HS FB players start showing up on the FB recruiting radar? I'm not talking about the Forcier-type head cases that all be buying TV ads to get their kids a scholarship. Talking about a solid contributor that has talent, but not freakish talent.
I would obviously love for him to end up at UNI if everything came together, but that's a long way off still. (BTW, his dad played for Hayden Fry at Iowa, so it would be extra sweet for him to be in purple).
Thanks for the info/thoughts.
