  • Paging Healthy Tight Ends

We have to have some production from the TE position, Rohr I believe would have had 3-4 catches yesterday, but now that he is done for the season, someone has to step up and catch a few balls.

I think there are plenty of healthy tight ends. I saw at least 3 had playing time on Saturday. I have never understood why they are not consistently in the game plan as a short pass option. Having a big target for high percentage throws or 3rd and 6 that will keep the linebackers honest. Going back to NDSU last couple of possessions to chip the end then slip out to the flat. Or the last couple of possessions Saturday - they had 2 tight ends in to block for the run, but apparently not a pass option.

I believe the coaches knew this was missing at NDSU and incorporated it in the SIU game. 3 dropped passes later it's out of the game plan again- so no passes to TEs vs USD. I think it has to be developed so its there when you need it.

The TE position on the Gateway All-Conference team used to be reserved for a UNI player. Nuss, Harken, Sharar, Hannam, Thorn, Cutright, Mahaffey, Oordt. Now, we have only four catches from two TE's in 7 games, half of them by a guy who is out for the season. Without that threat, safeties can cheat on help for our wideouts, linebackers are free to blitz, etc.
Number of times on Sports Illustrated cover:
Ben Jacobson coached teams = 2
UNI teams coached by everyone ban thinks is better = 0

That is absolutely shocking. I feel as though Rohr would be heavily utilized if healthy. He is all-conference material when healthy. But there is no reason that the drop off between Lehmann and Rohr constitutes eliminating the position all together. Although I was frustrated by his dropped balls against SIU

Lehmann doesn't appear to be able to catch a cold, much less a football.

I really wonder why Roth hasn't been given an opprotunity, he really impressed in last years spring game, then got hurt.

Rathmacher looks like he is on his way to the OLine

I don't know about Gaeta or Rottlink

I hear Lehmann makes all kinds of spectacular catches in practice. Gaeta got in last week for one play, got a false start and was yanked. I think I saw Roth's number for a few snaps Saturday on a 2TE set.
