7-5 sucks, guys. Losing five games in a row ain't gonna impress anyone, no matter what you did before and after. At some point, you gotta take off the purple-colored glasses, throw off the childish butt-hurt sh*t and visit the real world.

Re: My Email to the committee chairman

Well apparently if we had lost just 3 in a row we would've been SOL.

I was disappointed we were left out compared to some other teams but it still really irks me that YSU was also left in the dust. 3 losses in a row sucks but they said margin of victory/losses didn't factor in the decision so they essentially penalized the Penguins for losing to 3 other really good teams.

It's one thing to have bad losses. But to be penalized for not beating NDSU and the Jackrabbits is just stupid. If SDSU plays in any other conference they are probably a one loss team and seeded team.

Captain, I usually respect your opinion but you sound like a grumpy old woman living in the past of 16 team play-offs. We are living in the era of 24 teams when plenty of mediocre teams get in and we were solidly mediocre. Youngstown got jobbed for losing three to end the season, I haven't heard anyone talk about UNI three game winning streak. Much better than Sam Houston St getting slobber-knockered to end the season. Oh well on to......

I don't believe that the committee has ever awarded an at-large bid to a team with 5 losses (regardless of whether they were 5 in a row, or whether they were in conference or not).

That's part of the problem of this process...Some of the better teams are going to have more losses based on SOS.

Wait until the 4 team FBS playoff system next year. I can promise that the same argument will come up when (for example) LSU or Georgia is 9-2 in the SEC and say, a Boise St or Fresno St is 11-0 or 10-1 after playing a much easier schedule. What argument are we going to hear? You can fill in the blank from the LSU and Georgia fans. UNI is in the same boat. Tougher conference, tougher non conf schedule. My God, is it this hard to figure out???

I guarantee that if those other 4 loss at-large teams played our schedule they'd have 6 or 7 losses.
They need to come up with a better process of picking these teams and do a much better job at communicating why the teams were picked and why teams got left out.
Until they do this, all FCS are left wondering why and drawing their own conclusions.
The section committee is doing is a terrible job of getting the best at large teams in and the worst thing is, these committee people are not held accountable to explain their decisions either. Has anyone heard a valid explanation from the head of the selection committee?
The whole process is beyond stupid.

                          Allow me to repeat. Lololololololololol.

I know my audience. Seventh grade girls get addressed like seventh grade girls.

You sort of stumbled upon a pretty good point though. The fact UNI had a sub-500 record and was in all reality a quality team is proof the league is good, which is why YSU should have been in, and that is the valid point you should have stuck with in your email. Instead you look like a clueless homer. Maybe that's what you were going for. I don't know.

It turns out we weren't even in the top-24 of their SRS. Most of the hope was based upon bad versions of what some people thought that ranking would look like. We weren't even in the discussion. YSU should have been. They, and the league as a whole, have the real gripe.

And we beat YSU head to head and had a better SOS than YSU....we were the better team.

From a very reliable source close to the selection process, YSU was hurt because they had numerous wins against non-scholarship D1 programs, as opposed to South Carolina State who had more wins against scholarship teams, even though their conference schedule was not as tough. Even the YSU athletic director did not expect them to make the playoff field. We were out of the picture with 5 straight losses, despite our great start to the season. Hopefully, this frustration leads to some changes within the UNI program so we can get back to playoff football next season!

                                They never do.

There are way too many issues at play for the any NCAA selection committee to ever get it right.
